Awkward for a lot of people on here.

Was just wondering, if "the don", was still in charge, would we have still got the same verdict, or could underhand business come to play, just a thought.

I answered the question. George Floyd got called Ďscumí on page 1 of this thread. Other posters wonít see this as justice being done and believe Derek Chauvin was in the right.

Anyone in their right mind could see what he did and the guilty verdicts are no surprise.

So the justice system worked.

Did it work because America has inherited an excellent and fair legal system from us imperialist Brits allowing trial by peers?

Or did it work because some thugs in London threw bicycles at horses?

Iíd like to go with the former. However, the former option doesnít fit in with the narrative that the system is broken.

Thereís not many legal systems in the world that would convict a police officer in a case against a criminal who was high on drugs. The US justice system must be pretty robust.

No mention of the crime being racially motivated so far.

Itís also in line with the report that came out last week that said institutional racism doesnít exist in the UK.

This conviction doesn't change that reality one bit. Sorry for that.

Cops often avoid accountability for horrendous behaviour in the line of duty in the States. I don't even mean across racial lines, just generally (if anything it's unfortunately that it's solely painted as a racial issue). Their role is a tremendously difficult one and it's not difficult to argue that it sometimes attracts the wrong kind of person as result. In this case, what happened was so unnecessary and caught on copious amounts of film, that there was less chance of an automatic 'get out of jail'. His ego meant far more to him than the man he killed and the voices of people correctly pointing out that he was in the process of doing do. It's right that he went down for it.

I confess I thought it would be manslaughter. Struggle to see how a man can be murdered by somebody kneeling on their neck when the autopsy shows no bruising to the neck nor sign of damage to it.

But the jury clearly did so that is the verdict. Let's see how the appeal goes.

In 1967, when Polish mercenary Rafal Ganowicz was asked what it felt like to take human life, replied: "I wouldn't know, I've only ever killed communists."

So someone who robs a pregnant woman at gunpoint should not be called scum? Come on Dan surely you are better than that, think if it was your partner!
Chauvin s actions were appalling and he deserved to be punished but Waters/Biden getting involved pre verdict was outrageous especially Waters comments. I can see the US having trouble recruiting police officers in the future.

Or what would people be saying if he or any of his congressmen/women had acted like Waters/Biden did pre-verdict? Can you imagine!
