Yes from me.
He won nearly every header yesterday and linked up play well in second half.

But gotta get the ball in the box quicker to him.
One cross all game and he won that header and nearly scored.

Even I identified after Brentford played Arsenal that Benteke would have joy in the air against their centre backs (i wrote it on the 'Brentford' topic) as they are quite static. But yet again we get next to zero ball in the box. He would've thrived if we had got Dyche in, much like he did under Allardyce.

With Benteke there seems to be more questions than answers.

Match day 2 - he was lacking in his approach and hold up play and seemed to like to throw his arms up in frustration when not receiving the ball as he would’ve liked it.

More balls in he box - I expect would be beneficial for him at the moment I think it’s too early to discount him as momentum and games with the new style could provide some unexpected successes.

I would say yes - at the moment!

Surely has to be yes at the moment.
The alternatives are Ayew or Mateta.
We also seem unlikely to buy a top quality striker having been linked with the likes of Edouard and Nketiah who are unproven in the Premier League.
I think the key to getting Benteke to perform is to provide the right kind of service.
He had one cross yesterday and that was from Ward.
We don’t really have a good crosser of the ball.
I’m sure Benteke would thrive if he received the kind of service provided by McNeil at Burnley or Allbrighton at Leicester.
They whip in high crosses to the far post for the forwards to attack.

In his post match interview, PV mentioned we need to get more players into the box when in wide areas. A valid point.

You are right, But Viera isn't going to change his whole philosophy for one limited striker

Vieira will know the limitations within the squad only too well and I suspect he thinks that he needs more players than he will actually get before the window closes.

I had this conversation only last night and the gentleman agreed adding that I had been putting forward a case for the acquisition of Demarai Gray for quite some time.
Gray of course has signed for Everton for £1.8 Mill.

The original question was yes or no to whether you would accept a fee of £13m for him, so I think your answer to that would have been no based on what I've highlighted in your post.

I also say no at present. As Vieira rightly said yesterday, Benteke was left isolated too often in the Brentford box. You can't expect him to perform if he isn't fed or supported. Having said that, he could make more threatening runs in the box.

I am not a fan of Benteke, never have been during his time with us. I've said as much on the forum before, probably on this thread, but I can't remember.

He has supporters I know, but for me he comes across as lazy and lacking game awareness. He appears to rarely chase a ball or tackle an opponent. He just doesn't exude excitement. I want to see a forward who goes looking for opportunities and who sends a buzz round the ground when he gets the ball.

Whatever else he might be he's not exciting. I'm not aware of the crowd collectively standing in expectation when he gets the ball.

So, in answer to the original post, yes I'd vote to sell him for £13m, but like with Wilf, I can't see many clubs eager to dip into their purses.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.
