OK but that’s per household. Boris Gump spreads himself around a bit more than that.

Polygamy has more or less died out in Turkey, although with Erdogan secretly wishing to go back to the majesty of the Sultans it's creeping back in rural Eastern areas.

It’s not particularly common here but that hasn’t held him back.

i see the Scottish Police are in trouble because their code name for Boris is Bunter.

I think that is outrageous everybody knows his nickname is "Flashman"*. Can you imagine Starmer and Boris as the same school Boris would have been toasting his backside most nights.

*Actually at the Spectator it was "brute".

Probably already knew so old news. Not sure if he will be offended in public but if he laughs it off it will show how hurty names aren't really that hurty.

He only uses “Boris” as part of his act, the ruffled hair and bumbling etc - outside of this he goes by Alexander (his real name).

Please do not be fooled by his stage act - Johnson is a calculating, hard nosed politician with no scruples about getting into power or staying there.

I confess to being a tad facetious. Always been rather fond of the Turk. Quick to flare up but generous to a fault. There are worse mixes of qualities to have.

But Turkey can be a strange one, that is for sure. Up until recently, probably more 'Islamphobic' than many Western countries in all kinds of ways and I believe it even had a ban on the burka being worn and so on.

I believe the rural/urban divide is the issue and having known some very liberal Turks from Constantinople (or Istanbul as they prefer to call it), suspect the country has some serious internal stresses.

Still, Erdogan is not without his charms and is clearly a man capable of annoying a lot of people.

And whilst Johnson might well own a pair of curly toed slippers and clearly enjoys a kebab or two, I suspect his most perfidious instincts come from his British DNA.

Whilst we all like to wave the flag and spout a load of guff about fair play and the like, the reality is that the British are perhaps truly global experts when it comes to wielding knives into backs and Johnson, despite that buffoonish act, is perhaps one of our finest modern practitioners of the 'art'.

In 1967, when Polish mercenary Rafal Ganowicz was asked what it felt like to take human life, replied: "I wouldn't know, I've only ever killed communists."

So basically like every other politician then.

Agreed - unfortunately too many people have the impression that “Boris” is a loveable rogue type and is on the side of the “working class”.

He is a liar who will do anything to stay in power (again much like all the other politicians).

Is the UK actually a democracy anymore?

'If this was happening in Iraq, Zimbabwe or Venezuela, we’d call it what it is: corruption. “The easy access to power granted to those with the fattest wallets is having a corrosive effect on trust in government and public life.'

Westminster, the City, the House of Lords, even Her Majesty's lawyers, seem to be part of a general cess-pit.

Just finished Baron Noir a French political drama on Amazon, you'd love it Steeley. The Black Baron is a socialist scheming his way to power. He make Corbyn look like a care bear.

Apparently in France there is a serious movement for elections by "selection of lots". I think they mean that if there are 30 millions trade unionists that equates to 40% of the population so they should get 40% of the seats in Parliament the candidates to be selected by lot. One of the opponents favours this.

The left quite like the idea because it would give them a permanent majority. Anyway this is explored in Series 3 I checked and it's been a real movement in France in the past and the way Macron is going it may be back.
