What a lash-up.

Apart from the rainbow its got a black BMW bonnet and monster white spoiler.

Should be banned as offensive to public taste.

If I get stopped I will rely on my Dick Emery impression.

'Ooooooh you are awful'.

Scratch your eyes out honky tonk.

What on earth does this say about the direction society has taken over the years.

Bobby on the beat with no more than a truncheon as a deterrent. There to help with directions or tell you the time. Responding quickly to a call for support following a reported incident.

Now in full body armour and equipped with masses of paraphernalia including bodycams and guns. No longer responding if your home is wrecked and burgled. Hardly any visibility on our streets now unless they're driving a car looking like John Lennon's psychedelic Rolls Royce.

I don't want my local police to be acting out political posturing. I want them to prevent crime, preferably, or at least solve it.

Lads, the world's gone bonkers.

Hear Hear
Not forgetting that darned 'Taking the knee' at BLM protests.

It brings a new meaning to 'getting banged up to rights'.

Hopefully the car will be patrolling the streets of Birmingham where two gay men were brutally attacked by, er, three non-white people, who may well have been offended by their affection for one another.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

Come come, Willo. I don't like this outbreak of originality. What's wrong with "concurring with his sentiments"?

i think that if you yourself decide to dole out some swift justice ?
to some burglars ?

would you be surprised if an army of coppers arrives onto the scene afterwards ?

The Police are publicly funded, ie by us, so our political representatives determine these matters. Police cars will always be painted, and the colour they are won't diminish their capacity to address crime. Indeed, addressing inclusiveness may well assist them.

This then has nothing at all about the Police adopting a political stance. It's the politicians encouraging them to reflect the changing world we share.

A typically vague and woolly contribution. May we have some hard facts here? The only politicians who are able to determine things are the government. So - this is a genuine question - are you saying that the government instructed the police how to have their cars painted? Perhaps they did, I'd just be interested to know. And then, again, did the government instruct the police to take the knee in public?

But then you say that the politicians "encourage" the police to change their ways. Are you able to provide any examples of a politician doing that? - or do they do it clandestinely, in which case neither you nor anyone else would be in a position to know about it, or therefore to make your assertion.

As a proper old school leftie, I hate this.

We want changes to society, actual changes. We do not want w***y performative gestures. The police arnt suddenly protecting targeted members of society just because you stick a rainbow flag on something. Its frankly insulting and worse than not doing anything at all

It's inevitable that exactly how this kind of thing happens is shrouded in mist, so all anyone can do is make a reasonable guess, based on circumstances.

All I was trying to point out is that the Police are not an independent organisation who determine their own rules. They are controlled politically, both centrally and locally. So not just the government.

They then will reflect, along with other public institutions, the changing face of today's world and will adapt to it. Some will approve. Others clearly won't. As those in the second group don't seem to approve of any change which is regarded as progressive, the various comments are all very predictable.

The Police though don't serve just one segment of society. They serve all. Including LGBT.

At what level any decision is taken is likely to always be unknown, and that includes whether officers will "take the knee". Someone has to calculate the benefits versus the drawbacks and decide.

Being human, they may not get it right every time.
