Crying need for a creative midfielder/playmaker. Unfortunately they are a very rare breed and undoubtedly outside our price range. Without such a player we won't score goals even if we had Ronaldo or Kane so, Q.E.D., we will probably go down this season. You haven't demonstrated anything.

You’d think so. Said Aigoun was his coach at PSG so maybe he and PV will be a draw for him. He can be a frustrating player because his style sometimes makes him look a bit casual, he tends to chip the goalie rather than blast it which looks bad when it doesn’t work but when he’s on it he can be very good. He’s another player who can run with the ball so between him, Wilf, Eze, Gallagher and presumably Olise we’d have a few of them.

Well, there seems to be some real movement with Hughes expected for a medical tomorrow and promising news on the Nketiah negotiations. Also with Olise expected back end of September and Eze and Ferguson around the beginning of November, we could have a full squad by the time the more winnable matches come around after the Citeh game.

I can't comment on the Watford game as I didn't go but I thought Saturday was rubbish to be honest. The two centre back signings are great but there's a lack of quality and intensity pretty much throughout. Gallagher's loan (let's not forget it's only a loan) brings a bit of the latter. I wasn't exactly distraught about the departure of the Townsend and PVA although I felt Townsend has enough quality to be worth retaining and would be expensive to replace and PVA brought pace and an attacking threat. Nonetheless I anticipated some sort of attempt to replace the qualities they brought. Luka and Ayew are leggy players and are hitting the thirty mark. Benteke cant be trusted on the basis of the last four years. The previous manager was heavily criticized for his failure to use Mateta, Riedewald and Mitchell who are now being regarded many as not up it. The injury to Eze isn't anyone's fault. I think the owners need to back the new manager in the next few days or a miserable season awaits.

Can't say I know enough about either Edouard or the Arsenal fella Nketiah, but my gut feel is Edouard would be preferable. They both seem to meet our criteria of young and hopefully potential, but Edouard at least has had game time in Scotland and in Europe, and with that French connection.......

Not to dismiss Nketiah but if Edouard was playing for Arsenal he’d cost at least double the sums being quoted.

Assuming Nkeitah and Hughes are over the line, I reckon there'll be at least 3 more signings with atleast 1 going out and likely do an 11th hour loan deal for someone's castaway. Can see another forward coming in for sure.
