I used to work for a Dutch company & whilst out to dinner with the sales director ( & others) one night the discussion turned to Immigration / Asylum seekers / Economic Migrants - largely because he was saying that at the moment there were more unsettled people in the world than at any other time ( except during the 2 x WW,s) he was quite dismissive of the miniscule numbers that the UK take compared to the other European countries-

One of the few times that I saw the vein on his head bulge with anger / frustration.

A Brexit sold with the slogan “take back control” has left the UK with a border that is now harder to control.

The UK is even more dependent on collaboration with European neighbours who have much less incentive to be cooperative. There is now an empty chair where Britain should be sitting.

Baiting France with peurile point-scoring and phoney posturing have to stop before more people perish in the icy waters of the Channel.

Its not as if the UK would be trusted to honour any agreement anyway, that's how serious our position has become.

Makes no difference, all of the numbers point to the fact that the UK takes far, far lower numbers of any type of immigrant than many other continental European countries. The UK should be taking in far more in order to share the burden with the rest of Europe.

I doubt net immigration into other European countries is higher by percentage of population. I expect some are close. The UK'S net immigration has been at record levels for years. Looking it up, the highest overall is Germany, next is UK. By percentage of population, Sweden is highest. UK is up there too. Doctored labels and figures abound but I suspect you trust the UN and Oxford University. Anybody with their eyes open can see the amount of immigration in the country.

only a small fraction make their way to the UK, the vast majority are settled in continental Europe. The minority that have family or language ties to the UK, head for the UK. Still a tiny fraction compared to the total that migrate to the rest of Europe.

The UK has a larger economy than France, so has the finacial resources to support more immigration. France has double the land mass of the UK but takes in nearly 3 times the number of Asylum seekers, so the UK is still significantly lower on its intake in comparison.

Actually quite a few arrive who have no family here and no ties to the English language….fact.
Portugal doing their bit?

Rubbish. Nothing has changed.

When will people like you realise that this is just the tip of the iceberg. We cannot have a situation that continues to allow refugees illegal or otherwise entering Europe. It is totally unsustainable and a huge threat to our security and way of life. The sooner we halt it, the better it will be for all Europeans.

Those who support open borders never put a limit on it? Considering around 4bn people live in poverty and or not under a nice government you have to draw a line at some point otherwise we will be swamped. All we get though is this is a rich country, plenty of space (by the way are these the same people who are eco friendly and complain about building in the countryside).

Anyway good luck getting an answer on when is enough enough from the bleeding heart politicians.

the flow of refugees will continue until the UK has a Civil War.

Which will happen, if we do not stop the madness.

I think he might believe that when inner London youths say ‘’Fam’’ to each other that they are actually family.

Yep. At least Beckenham is pricey enough to keep this madness at a distance.
