I have no evidence for this but...

Seems a conveyer belt of head coaches. Sean Derry succeeded at u23 and hS moved up to first team coach. Paddy Mac did great at U18 and took Derrys place. In this scenario I see Derry taking the top job after Vieira moves on.

Why am I saying this? Because I see Jimmy Mac joining this small group of ex players coaching the club. It seems to fit our happy community model.

I think playing alongside Gallagher has challenged his competitive nature. CG in a recent interview praised JM and the amount of work he gets through. Be nice to see him turn up in the box and get his name on the scoresheet.

James Mccarthur is a class act. He has got to be one of the first names on the team sheet every week.

I agree. Stands to reason given the number of appearances in the top flight during our most successful spell. The best centre mid of my time watching.

I think our new style of play suits him. He used to be the only one hassling and pressing the opposition. But now they are all doing it, it is more effective. Not giving the oppo time on the ball and winning back possession ASAP is working great.

Delighted he's fully fit again, what a great player for us.

I'm a big fan of Jimmy Mac and delighted he's had the Captain's armband the last coupla matches.

So good to see the match report in today's Times almost entirely devoted to his part in the game, although in fairness, the report also refers to PV's role in developing him to play with more freedom.

Also pleased he made it into Henry Winter's TOTW.

I know Gallagher's getting all the plaudits right now, and rightly so, but without players like JM, he wouldn't be so effective. Our unsung hero IMO.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I remember when we signed him and I had a work colleague who was a Wigan fan and was gutted he'd left. I'd never heard of McArthur at that point, but my work colleague said we'd got a real gem there and he was an absolute work horse in midfield who gave everything.
What was telling was that he didn't feel any animosity to him moving on to Palace, as he knew he had the ability to play for a team higher up the leagues and wished him well. Here we are what 7(?) years later and every word has rang true.

Like Geoff Thomas, Michael Hughes, Jedinak and Luca (when on form) he's just one of those midfield players who's there week in, week out working his socks off for the team. Glad to see him flourish under PV and hope when the time comes, as others have said, that he stays with us in a coaching role. Think he would be well suited to that.

We have suddenly become a team of fighters all determined to win. Basically what all too pros should be like. It’s like PV has taught them all what only JM and a couple others believed. With all 11 at it and subs we are awesome. Even Benteke has turned it up.

John Textor must be wondering why there wasn’t a queue waiting to invest in the club.

I think it is telling that when freed of Hodgson's dictum of defence we are now seeing the true value of our good players.

Ward, Mitchell and even Benteke have come on a bundle and as for Jimmy Mac his true skills are shining through.

When he eventually retires I hope he will stay on as a coach - he will be an inspiration to our upcoming youngsters.

I also think that Townsend would now be a different player for us if we had not released him.

The recent Captain's arm band supports your statement!
