Unfortunately can't send Palace exactly what I said to Southern as it was on one of their fill in the boxes complaint forms, have had an automated reply to confirm that they have received it.
Will phone the club tomorrow and try to speak to someone with more clout than myself, hopefully Palace are just as concerned about the safety of the fans getting to and from the ground not just inside it.

I am obviously happy to chip in as well if that will help.

Unfortunately I don't share your optimism on that.

But it may well be worth contacting the ORR (Office of Rail and Road), which is responsible for safety. They have a website, with instructions on how to get in touch with them, under various headings, including Health and Safety.

Its worth considering the angle coming from them
Its a small station at the end of the day, only really busy on football days.

There were crushing situations where two streams of queues came together in the ticket area or when side door was open.
Remember crushing at hillsborough, lesson were learned, people at the back keep pushing, crushing and killing the ones at front, coming from several areas.

I have come from the side path and been well and truly crushed at Selhurst ticket area, so much so I now use Norward Junction to go home. Plus tight queues, pickpocket heaven!! If Selhurst had a back entrance, like Norwood, then the situation is improved.

Therefore having the one queue forming into the ticket office area at Selhurst to prevent two queues crushing will go on... allow time, safety considerations with the present access to the bottom of the platforms, will need to be there without fail...
Selhurst is what it is.. old.... like our club 1861!!!

If that is indeed their view then I think it is misconceived on a number of points.

It is always busy on a match day and they have to deal with that. We are their customers. They know when the matches are scheduled and could easily plan for the necessary staffing and access as suggested earlier through the gates highlighted in a previous post.

Plus I have occasionally been in a crush at Selhurst but firstly: Pre COVID I could have a drink in the RednBlue bar, make my way down at 5:15 and walk straight in for a 5:30 train. Now you hit a 100 yard queue. People will start to get nasty when they miss a train and there is not another one for an hour. Or is their view that as football fans we should leave the game early?

Secondly But more importantly the crush is now alongside a busy road which is far more dangerous.

Thirdly it actively blocks the pavement for other pedestrians of whom there seemed to be several who were very unhappy at having to walk in the road and it renders the bus stop unusable. That will create a negative reaction to CPFC

As I have mentioned the crush still exists but is now of far longer duration which must increase the dangers you refer to.

Finally I have been equally caught in a crush at NJ ( one time after a Sunderland game was particularly memorable). At least there the crush is off the main road. I have also been marooned on the platform at NJ because Southern decided to run just a four coach train southbound that gets crammed full to the point where nobody else can get on. So I don’t think that is an answer. A great increase in numbers at Norwood will hardly help matters there.

Finally will the club get beaten over the head with the “lack”of infrastructure argument as a reason not to allow the new stand?

Think after the Brighton game fans that were travelling on East Grinstead line had to get cabs from East Croydon due to reduced service and delays getting into Selhurst ;

some fans got a replacement bus onwards from Oxted, but others had to wait for about an hour to get a bus to Edenbridge
