He who wields the knife never gets the crown-but Javid has shown balls going first- im voting for him!

I understand your point but wonder if they decided to both resign at the same time so neither of them would be seen as the one wielding the knife, thereby giving them a chance should there be a leadership election. Surely there is no way back for Johnson now ??

Dunno. Timing is everything. Resigning late on a Monday afternoon means that the agenda is set for the rest of the week. Will Johnson walk though? Not sure there is a mechanism for him to be pushed, as things stand.

The 1922 can change the rules- bungle would understand that

You are not wrong, totally orchestrated, you can see it in the language they both used.

No way back indeed- they could have carved up a top job deal and a swop- like blair/brown, but its early days, respect to Savid thou, unless they did go together and reporting choose him first!

Wow. Never saw either of those coming. And all of the s*** that could finally (and never say never with Johnson) bring down the PM, the fact that it comes down to a drunken moron groping up people has a certain poetic justice.

Andrew Marr earlier today thought Javid might resign but wasn’t sure.

The whole raison d'etre of this government, brexit, is a complete disaster and everybody knows, but can't say it.

Stand up the first politician brave enough to confront us with the truth.

The economic figures like our current account deficit equalling 8.7% of GDP, are like a banana republic.

Nobody believes a word of this government at home or abroad there is no point in their existence.

Starmer has changed his tube on Brexit and staying out. What’s your opinion on that?

TBH, it is done, we are fcked. for today's popularist politicians sensible as the full affects are yet to appear. For any conviction politician like not as bad as continually lying.

Just seen this...

Maybe, and its tiny, minute, maybe, Johnson could be about to reinvent himself as an actual Conservative?

Be the oddest of all outcomes.

Depends. If he puts more money in peoples pockets, cuts back on all the green tax bulls***, makes fuel cheaper...

It's possible. A cheeky bet on Johnson being PM come 2025 might be worth a spare cockle, just for the lolz.

The issue is that if he decides not to go then the Tories who want him out, as things stand, only really have one option. Which would be to back a Labour motion for lack of confidence in the Government. That's it, as far as I can see.

People want a Government that leads. Sunak was a busted flush anyway and Javid had already supposedly, resigned on principle once before.

Maybe this is the shock Johnson needs. But he ain't going anywhere of his own free will.

So all we’ve heard for two years is how skint people are. Now hmg might help them out for whatever reason they could all be a bit dim! Ironic !
