Not everyone has such a pained party political view of themselves and others you know? Do you think I'm licking my lips at the thought of Labour or Lib Dems, or indeed Tories at the helm? Not particularly as I think that the game is rigged as a whole. But anyway, it's for the public and party to decide if it's 'low importance'. They are both doing so. I listed the odds because it's the true 'money where your mouth is take' of where we're at, in terms of likelihood of him going, which would appear to be something that is relevant right now. My post even highlighted that dumping Boris might be pointless on account that he has no obvious replacement. And beyond that, just because someone isn't a mental illness level race obsessive, it doesn't mean they're a 'lefty'. I'm perfectly able to draw balanced and sensible political takes without buying what you're selling.

It is rather pitiful seeing some still bend over for the man, I agree. A substantial number of voters regardless of party affiliation understand how unforced and insulting this stuff is. One rule for them. The arrogance of it considering the sacrifices people were asked to make - or rather told, through threat of severe fine and arrest. If people can't see how disgusting it is to keep people away from dying loved ones or mourning them, while the rule makers knock back Pimms, they're beyond help. All entirely unforced too. The arrogance.

Na, it's just Lefties making a fuss over unimportant nonsense! You're right though; people willing to abandon any sort of empathy or compassion for other people, all to defend someone who literally thinks they're scum.

It's a nonsense that so much attention is being deflected from the job of running the Country by a flaky campaign to oust Johnson. All because some of his staff took time out from dealing with the Covid pandemic to have a few drinks in the garden. All hyped up by the media. Except GB News.

Now a defection to Labour.... of the 2019 intake of Tory MPs has walked out of the party to join the Labour benches. Christian Wakeford, who took the red wall seat of Bury South in the last election, had already called for Boris Johnson to go, revealing he had put in a letter of no confidence last week. But he has now quit the party and joined Labour. The crack in the dam just got that much bigger.

It was totally unnecessary, and to anyone other than the most pitifully subservient, the reaction is entirely understandable. There were countless parties and if you buy into this 'work drinks' stuff you'll believe anything. Appreciate what took place while others were strictly prohibited from meeting in even the most grave circumstances. Like it or not, that's no small thing and it's not just supporters of opposing parties that believe that.

Have to agree. It's just the piss poor judgment around it. At a time when people could not go to funerals and the like, then the optics of deciding to stand around drinking wine in the company of others, when you have made the rules in the first place, is beyond poor. Sheer hubris on a scale that renders people incapable of holding a leadership position. And for the balance, even the wisdom of Starmer swigging a beer whilst supposedly 'working' does not bode well either. But its a minute crime when compared to what Johnson over-saw. Edited by Matov (19 Jan 2022 12.19pm) I mentioned a few days ago about the drinking culture in politics and that this is out of touch with the rest of the work force. Coincidently a former no 10 aide has just said the same thing when referring to Johnson et al, drinking at lunch and other functions apparently is the norm for these people. They need to wise up that this is not the norm for the majority of the population and is frowned upon in the work force these days.
