I think that the Anderson/Guehi pairing will come good. they're 25 And 21 respectively.. I'd be looking at MG to be The dominant defender, while Anderson Supports but it'll take some time to be the finished partnership. The start they've made is phemonenal. Time for the coaches to earn their bucks and start training them

As for Tekkers, I think we're simply seeing a team playing to his strengths, where previously we weren't. He's getting more chances - better chances - both with his head and on the deck.

On re-watching the game again I came away feeling we got lucky.

Anderson getting away with that foul which looked worse than the one we got at City was a major let-off and Vydra's glaring miss at the end (notwithstanding Guaita's good save) should have finished us.

Dyche, like all good managers, did his homework and exploited our disorganisation at set pieces. With McArthur absent we lack an on-field leader. The Luka/Kouyate pairing is very weak and this needs a change. Maybe bring on Kouyate to defend a lead but Luka is a liability and well past his original best.

If we are going to press we need Olise on from the start and it puzzles me that we have a holding midfielder but Hughes has yet to get a minute of game time.

For the moment we have to rely on our goal scoring abilities to compensate on defensive weakness.

We are now a 'good team to watch' but can't expect to progress until the weaknesses are fixed.

I actually thought a draw was a fair reflection for both sides given Zaha hitting the bar and Benteke's missed header.

Agree with your comments around the disorganisation at set pieces and also the second ball. That said, the two central defenders both played a significant part in the third goal and there was also the amazing switch of play when one of them stopped the ball going out for a goal kick and launched a fantastic counter.

I agree wit your comments around Olise; he looks such an amazing talent and his impact was immediate from the moment he came on. Exciting times indeed and I am sure they will work hard on the defensive organisation; ironically the two centre halves are more comfortable in playing against a Man City type team than Burnley with their agression and physicality.

We started with the wrong team, and didn't correct it soon enough, showed them too much respect, should have gone for their throats and we would have had the points

Despite PV saying he was very happy with Luka's performance...right?

The fact he felt he needed to say that perhaps indicates he knew there may be some criticism of him.

The thing is, Andersen lost us 2 points against BHA, and could/should have lost us 1 point yesterday, giving up the last second free run on goal, plus ridiculously avoiding a red card for that obvious foul earlier. He butchered two relatively simple things to defend.

In the past, our midfield was so dire, we needed CBs who could pass well from the back (like Sakho, when he wasn't making 1-2 brain dead giveaways per match). Now that we have a skilled midfield, do we really need CBs who are unable to defend, but are skilled passers? I would question that.

I think I'd rather have Tomkins in there, who couldn't make a beautiful pass upfield, but could at least defend a simple hoofed ball into our end. I don't know if it's possible to train Andersen to defend better, but after the BHA debacle, my patience for his defensive failures is growing thin.

People used to complain about PVA's imbalance of offense/defense, but Andersen looks even worse than PVA in that regard.

Brighton? Wasn’t it a s**t clearance by Guiata and Guehi who let it bounce? Not sure JA was involved. Now if you had said Leicester I would agree with you.
Unfortunately Tomkins is finished as a first choice PL defender, would choose JA over him all day long

I did wonder about the attacking line up but we scored 3 goals in the first half. So the real question has to be on the defence. We let in 3 very Burnley esque goals. We knew they would test us in set pieces yet we seemed very unprepared for it. Some of the defending was shocking in that respect.

Hopefully Viera is able to improve our set piece defending as that seems to be our main issue at the moment, whilst scoring isn't for the time-being, thankfully.

It's still a decent result and added to a good run.

From my point of view that was a game we could have won but equally could have lost.

We started well and should have been 2 up but Gallagher hit his shot straight at their keeper.

Then came our all too frequent struggles defending set pieces. We lack an airielly dominant centre back, and Burnley are always going to try to exploit that and did. More work to be done on the training ground because as a team we are not getting the defending basics right - blocking runs being a prime example.

Against a team of s***houses like Burnley, we didn't help ourselves by conceding unnecessary free kicks and giving them the chance to put the ball into our penalty area. I respect the job that Dyche does, but I couldn't watch that football. Especially after 4 years that we've just had under Roy.

Koutate and Luka together was not a good combination. I'm sure that didn't go unnoticed by PV.

Burnley in November is a difficult place to go. A draw isn't a bad result.

Yes a draw was a fair result - one of the things that was not mentioned was that for the first period of the match we were able to play out from the back without to many issue but Burnley stopped us doing this and that was when we lost the control of the game. Dyche indicated Burnley pushed up 15 metres more and it was noticeable we ended up playing longer which resulted in Burnley able to contest balls and making the game more physical and so in effect playing to their strengths.

Whilst we may not like the style of play Dyche employs he is still an experienced and canny manager. He got his tactics spot on, especially after the adjustments at half time. I'm glad to have come away from Turf Moor with something.
