I'm not going to be too over dramatic (as I and am sure lot of us are in the immediate aftermath of a defeat).

However it's very obvious that we are not the team we were 4 games a go.

It started at Burnley. We've looked suspect all season on set pieces but against them we started looking suspect every time they launched the ball forward.

It obviously coincides with Macca being out and now over the last 2-3 games Anderson.

Is it simply down to one or two players being out that we suddenly look a lot more ineffective? Or am I missing something 🤔

It's the same as it's been since August 1972. We have no strength in depth and precious little quality in the first place. It will always be so with a club of this stature. The only difference between 1972 and 2021 is the amount of money it costs to achieve relative mediocrity

McArthur and Andersen have a lot to do with it. Simply can't play the passing game PV wants to play with Schlupp and Kouyate in the engine room.

There's little doubt that Jimmy Mac has been mighty for us this season, and Anderson to a lesser extent. But their recent absence is not the only cause of our failure to gain more points.

Fact is our front runners ie Ayew and Benteke are not up to standard in front of goal. They have both missed easy chances and cost us points.

Also, I regret to say, as much as I think he has huge potential, Guehi has cost us points too. Some reckless play from him.

In a nutshell, I don't think our recent 'drop in form' is just down to 2 players.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.
