At the end of the day we have got to be happy with how this season is panning out. We were nailed on by most for relegation this season and it looks like we will finish amongst the bunch in mid table.

Both of our full backs are very poor on the ball. Mitchell is a better defender but I would take 2 upgrades on them.

Olise has a bright future but we are a stronger team with Ayew playing.

Eze is going to need more time to get back to his best.

We badly need a new striker with a different skill set to the ones we have.

Only a matter of time.

Sorry but I am confused what are you talking about?

I thought Ward was instrumental in the goal we scored. Might be a bit slow off the mark in defence but gives it all going forward.

Well Ward ‘s forward run did help set up the excellent team goal. But I agree he didn’t have a good game overall.

You can guarantee, when Ward eventually loses his place, there will be posts wanting him back and how useless his replacement is.

That’s not his priority though defending is.

Really? They said that exact fact on Sky during tonight’s game. Because he got booked after the West Ham game for confronting the ref, he has now been booked in the 90’s, 00’s, 10’s and now 20’s in the Premier League.

I would just add how lucky we are to have Vieira.
The guy is on a different plane to most on here and certainly me. Just wish I had his depth of knowledge and understanding of the game.
Roy was thorough but Pat is up in the stars and everyone seems to rightly be in awe of him.
He is exceptional.

Eze and Olise have so much talent. Anderson so unlucky when we had defended so well. We need goal scoring strikers. Gallagher. Shluppie. The Africans. We’ve got some real talent.

I have to join those who said we were lucky to get a point tonight. Very much a reverse of the game at SP. They were very good; we were generally poor, but let's not forget they've had 2 more years trying to perfect the more expansive, pressing game than we have. We'll get there and quicker than them.

I thought Mateta did ok on the few occasions he was able to be involved and he protected the ball and laid it off well in the move that led to our goal.

If PV is going to persist with Eze and Olise, then I'd prefer to see Edouard wide left, Mateta at CF and Eze in a deeper role in place of Schlupp, who could be used as an impact sub.

Thanks, I will sleep a lot better tonight armed with that information.

People trying to excuse Ward’s inept display by pointing to the goal need to understand a lot of players contributed to a great move, not just him. More importantly they need to understand it’s 2022 and he’s not good enough by some way. He’s been a legend but it’s all over now.
Meanwhile, Schlupp still somehow finds his way into the side despite a miserable season in which he has made negligible contributions. The midfield three that played tonight doesn’t work. You needed Luka holding behind Hughes and CG.
On the plus side Butland and Guehi can be pleased with their excellent performances.
I didn’t rate the double change. Edouard should have gone to the left with Schlupp getting the hook.
But we nicked a point and can play miles better so all in all not a bad night.
