I thought a light-hearted thread might be in order, seemingly that most of us are under increasing financial pressure.

Aside from illegal stuff, like using red diesel in your diesel car, or shoplifting, do you have any money-saving tips (ala, Viz)

I am collecting old newspapers from the local newsagent to use as firelighters for the open fire.
I swerve Sainsbury's (the tory Barstweard), and shop at Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, Home Bargains and B&M.

Petrol is from Morrisons, as they are consistently the cheapest, but sometimes have queues at their pumps.
If I were drinking alcohol, that would still be a large expense. I know my neighbours haven't moderated their drinking, in spite of spiralling bills. You have to get solace some place.

And we aren't shopping ethically any more. Organic is no longer on the menu.

Any More ?

And, OK, i said nothing Illegal. And a double mistake in replying to my own thread, but the BBC licence can go f-ck itself. I haven't bought one for years.

Just tell them that television is against your religion and you will never hear a word from them again.

Get the heating and water turned off, then spend all day getting warmed up in Wetherspoons on the unlimited coffee/tea refills deal.

And then once you're home it's time for the party to really get started [Link] with 30 cans of Wife Beater for £21.

I know my audience.

All jokes aside, there's clearly some costs its unfortunately hard to get away from. Keeping an eye out for deals can be a decent saver though, buying certain items in bulk too (rice, pasta). Cutting the odd take away out too if you find that it's become too frequent. Bank switches can get you maybe £500+ year if a temporary dip in your credit score isn't a big issue to you. I've done all of the above at various points.

I get that it all gets a bit 'why not cut out the coffee shop' when really the issue is much bigger than that, but every little helps.
