Agent issues? Like how much he wants.

Good question, the fact the he has not been confirmed is significant and indicates its not going well and in the SUNDAY PRESS little is mentioned on this transfer and according to BBC sport the Sun is now reporting that we are entering a late move to try and sign for Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolves!

Yes all gone very quiet, suspect Lens have sought to change the goalposts. If the initial reporting was correct we had agreed personal terms with the player before agreeing the fee with the club which seems peculiar and to do this we must have had their permission.
Obviously we won’t be held over a barrel. Nice if it can happen but something seems amiss.

I don’t think the fact it all gone quiet means anything at all…..he’s possibly had his medical and final details being ironed out. You must know by now that Palace move at a snails pace. Other clubs make a bid it’s accepted and player signed and announced in less than 24 hours. With Palace this usually takes 1 or 2 weeks for some reason.

It may also be work permit issues and were know how slow things are that department!

I feel a key factor in all of this is there seems to be no other competition to sign him, therefore there is no pressure for the club concede points on the deal and so we are able to pursue tough negotiations to eek as much out of the deal as possible. I'm not worried.

I thought he had already signed a 5 year deal!

That was clearly absolute cobblers wasn’t it, as even if he is announced today, tomorrow etc - PV would have surely wanted to give him a run out yesterday.

Whilst I risk pant wetting comments he was said to be PV’s number 1 target. If this doesn’t happen we will risk pissing another manager off, we will have let Kouyate go and have no Gallagher (yes, I know why). I’d like to say early days but it’s not really if you want to start gelling a new midfield.

You are spot on with a month to go for our first PL fixture of the new season and all we have signed so far is a GK and a young unproven player from Derby. Yesterday run out proved once again we struggle to score against even lowly opposition and whilst I accept it was friendly I would have expected our so called strikers to have had a field day with exception CB who could not score even if they played without a GK. We need to get moving in the transfer market PDQ!

The delay could also be PR announcement spacing to keep the focus on the kit and player rather than announcing all at the same time and diverting attention. So, looking to announce the player wearing the new home kit may well be behind the delay. New goal keeper kit announced with Sam Johnston, new away kit announced with Malcolm Ebiowei. These announcement's have been spaced about 2 days apart. The PR team would not want these all done at the same time.

If they don’t announce his signing tomorrow then I think there must be something wrong. Their musicals often take a couple of days to complete so I guess that might be a factor. With speculation about Flynn Downes and now Morgan Gibbs-White, both midfield players not to mention Aribo, you do have to wonder.

Transfer window doesn't close until end of August, there will be plenty of rumours and speculation until then. Yesterday was a run out as you stated, thats all it was, nothing more.

That's pretty good going, although it's said that Elton John and Bernie Taupin wrote 'Your Song' in just a few minutes.

This comment gets repeated every July, and of course you are right. But for once wouldn't it be good to get all the changes done well before the next season begins, so that the reconfigured squad can have a chance to play together? Rather than scrabbling around in the last few days and sometimes hours of August.
