There are reports around that the FA is planning to drop Three Lions in favour of Sweet Caroline at the World Cup because it might offend other nations. How a song lamenting England's successive failures for three (soon to six) decades offends anyone isn't clear.

What does it mean for the FA to "drop" a song? I don't understand.
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

My vote will be for Fat Les' Vindaloo.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Fans will sing whatever they like, just a load of nonsense from the FA and FIFA.

If they totally had their way you would see mixed teams with a group of players reflecting social inequalities across the country. International football is bad enough as it is, but to start deciding what fans should be singing is beyond the pale.

Why don't we just go the whole hog when playing another country (especially one we may have invaded/enslaved/built railways in/colonized) and sing Tracey Chapman's 'I'm Sorry'?

Three Lions really bothers a lot of people. Seems obvious the 'it’s coming home' (as in a 'we’re definitely winning this'), is a joke. We’re all aware we’ve never seen England win anything but read any comments section re England and it’s full of non-English people convinced that we’re the most arrogant nation on earth and we actually expect to win every tournament. Anglophobia mixed with a misunderstanding of English humour.

Another example of the UK being made to feel they cannot promote any of their history or legacy without worrying about offending someone.
