I have said it before and I will say it again. Can we PLEASE lock this thread. It is getting infuriating having to read pages of posts every morning regarding transfer news when it should be on individual threads. The most rational argument for locking this thread (and for all of us to stop reading anything on the topic) is to prevent the hope that turns into even more disappointment when we end up signing f*** all.

Before anyone gets excited, it's an 18 year old playing in the Belgian second division that some journalist says we and Chelsea are interested in - probably because Leverkusen want him on a free in the summer, so they've made this up to get them to offer cash in January.

Club Brugge are not in the Belgian second division. They are a regular competitor in the Champions league, therefore we would represent a step down for the lad (despite the better quality league). We'd be lucky to get him. I'm betting we wont even come close.

Yes, I fear without finding a creative midfielder we could find ourselves in dire trouble come the end of February - especially if Vieira doesn't crack the whip and get the team to play with more determination which has been noticeably lacking of late. I will be very surprised if we sign anyone that would go straight into the 1st team. There are lots of rumours about young players (teenagers and early 20's) that would appear to be planning for the future. So, a couple of loans is probably all we can realistically hope for.
