Kicks off soon 19:00 the EFL Cup.

I think we need to win to progress or a draw if Bristol Rovers slip up.

Looks like a bit of a hill to climb.

Plymouth piling it on still 0-0.

What is the EFLcup ? Its not the league cup I guess.Theres to many competitions in my opinion, whats the Europa conference league all about? Is everything geared up to let the glamour clubs at least win something every season?

Well Plymouth have just scored in injury time and Rovers won as well so it's saranoya this season. Goals a lot harder to come by than when they play even the best of their peers

The EFL Trophy not sure what the letters mean, we are out after a late Plymouth winner.

Somehow we were in a west country group, we needed seniors really to compete, but good experience anyway.

Flying in the U21 PL.

I don't think PL clubs are allowed to play seniors in this competition, hence why so many PL U21 teams have failed to qualify from the group stage:

Qualified = Everton, Wolves, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal

Not qualified = Liverpool, Newcastle, Leicester, Brighton (still got 1 game but can't qualify), Villa, West Ham, Spurs, Palace, Southampton.

Leeds and Man City can qualify if they win their remaining game.

EFL means English Football League.
It's name for sponsorship reasons is the Papa Johns Trophy
Sarcastically it's called the Pizza Cup

Previous names over the years are Johnstone's Paint Trophy or Auto Windscreens Shield

For the vast majority of it's existence, it has been a competition for League 1 and League 2 clubs only (Divisions 3 and 4 in old money)

About 5 or so years ago, Category 1 Academies could enter (usually Premier League Clubs U21s) on the basis that all their games were away and it was under U21 rules (so almost no over age players in the teams)

It's quite 'regulated' with lots of rules as to the make up of the teams, to make sure the League 1 and 2 clubs don't put forward teams that are too weak, and that the Prem U21s don't put in teams that are too strong/experienced.

It's the sort of cup that most clubs only get interested in if they get to the quarters or semi, but of course the world and his dog attend the final!
