Those that think Eze and Olise are the second coming today was a rude awakening. For the 5 minutes they play football each game I would rather sell them and buy someone who actually contributes.

This is one occasion where we can't blame the referee. We were genuinely very bad indeed and, even with a full complement, we would still have lost. With one or two exceptions (and I mean one or two) our passing was toilet.

Far superior? Based on what? Brighton have a much better squad than us despite regularly selling all their best players every transfer window. Our full backs are average with no back ups, our forwards aren’t good enough and our options off the bench are non-existant. Edited by pompeyeagle (26 Dec 2022 6.15pm)

Shambolic from minute one, unable to pass to each other until Fulham scored and to be honest at home we again made one of the Premiership's lesser lights look like Man City.

A woeful performance which had relegation written all over it. We looked lightweight, uninterested and unfit. God only knows what’s been going on these past 6 weeks. Mr. Parish, you have to invest in the team NOW, It ain’t good enough.

Some of the comments here are unbelievable. We started poorly but were growing into the game having weathered the early push by Fulham. That’s not unusual. Then we lost a goal. It happens. The key turning point was the first red, but we were managing that, containing things and trusting on a breakaway or a late push. The second red was ridiculous. It wasn’t even a foul. It was cheating which should have resulted in a red the other way, squaring things up from where we could easily have gone on to win. Why VAR didn’t overturn beats me. Tomorrow I will be with a Premier League Assistant Referee who is a mate and will ask him!!!He also works on the VAR. It was a bad day all round but I expect it to be motivating too.

As bad a decision and example of blatent cheating that Tomkins sending off was, VAR still couldn't get involved as it was a yellow card offence and not a straight red.

We’ve got hardly any players left to motivate.

We were poor to begin with today but at half time I opined to a fellow fan that I was not inconsolable with despair. Thought Mitchell’s red card was harsh and had the red given a yellow that might have stood but perhaps not. Tomkins second yellow was farcical however and that killed the game stone dead. It was such a non event that upon arriving home I’m not even angry upset etc, left after their second which for all the world looked a handball to me and I had a good view, not really checked rest of comments or media yet however if that’s disputed or even disproved. A shambolic game, I thought decisions were very poor on us and an absolute write off. I strongly suspect that could be the last we see of Tomkins. He looks as though he’s given up on playing and we’re it not for dire straits on our behalf and money on his I suspect he’d be long gone. We desperately need depth and strengthening in January however I’m confident that will not come. The most disappointing thing today was the lack of fitness, sharpness but most of all general absence of any recognisable inclination to try and compete. The latter I can’t forget and whilst an almost comical script I really hate that we never, ever, look like the more determined team. Pure laziness and lack of professionalism.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
