Its being reported on FB & BBS that 'Jacko' died last night. No link & not confirmed as of yet, if true, a sad loss as he was (imho) our greastest 'keeper. Finally, confirmation . . . [Link] Edited by eagleman13 (30 Dec 2022 2.47pm)
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

My Mum had a crush on John Jackson. A really nice, unassuming bloke and the best keeper never to get a full England cap. If true, RIP
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

He was on the pitch with a bunch of yester year Palace heroes only a few months ago, he looked very smart in his grey suit, seemed in good health with a really broad smile - if its true he has passed it would indeed be sad news - much loved by many a Palace supporter -

Oh. I am distraught. I have seen them all since Vic Rouse and he was indisputably our finest keeper. In his era the ball was leather and heavy, goalmouths were a sea of mud and centre forwards came barging in with impunity. He was as brave as they came and in another time he would have been England's number one. I shall have the happiest memories of Jacko and even when he left us for Orient he continued as well as ever. You can occasionally have glimpses of his brilliance when ITV show repeats of the Big Match. He deserves a memorial statue at Selhurst and I will gratefully contribute to one. R.I.P.

He really was a Palace icon, hard to think of anyone more so with the possible exception of Jim Cannon. I feel like he just went from a great hero into being a bit of history. That is gut wrenching when he was an idol.

I was really upset when Bill Glazier left for Coventry, but soon became a huge Jacko fan. I remember him getting quite cross with a Leeds player once. RIP JJ Edit it was Coventry not Leeds. Edited by chris123 (30 Dec 2022 2.21pm) Edited by chris123 (30 Dec 2022 2.39pm)
