Dead "West Ham co-chairman David Gold has died at the age of 86 following a short illness. A lifelong Hammers fan, the club said he passed away "peacefully" on Wednesday morning with his fiancee and daughters by his side." 86 and his fiancee by his bedside??? Gone too soon. Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

David Gold was a resident of Caterham and a patron of Whyteleafe FC. When Gold was at Birmingham, the midlands club used to play Whyteleafe in a pre-season friendly. Condolences to the Gold Family and to all his friends at this sad time. RIP. From Steve Parish : "Terrible news, David was an absolute gentleman, always had kind and supportive words for me when things were tough. He knew how to win with grace and lose with dignity. David Gold was a resident of Caterham and a patron of Whyteleafe FC.
When Gold was at Birmingham, the midlands club used to play Whyteleafe in a pre-season friendly.
Condolences to the Gold Family and to all his friends at this sad time.

David Gold used to open his house and garden in Caterham on various days throughout the year to raise money for charity. He served tea from his garage and had a stack of his autobiography behind him which he was flogging. RIP He did quite a lot for Caterham and was instrumental on improving the safety of the By-pass.
