Don't be daft. Doucoure must be at the stage where he's looking to the left and right of him and thinking "f*** me, look at this pair of useless lazy herberts I have to carry"...

Rubbish, his passing is poor, and he is too lightweight, Luka at his past best, Jedinak, KG, Kouyate are the type of DMs you need for the PL, Ligue 1 is a like a training game, he might be ok at RB, for me he is Dou-poor

I don't think he's lightweight, but passing has been pretty poor in the last couple of games

We looked okay in the first half, but didn't create enough chances and couldn't take the few we did make.
If this and the Fulham game don't highlight the glaring inadequacies in the squad to SP and the rest of the board I suspect we are on a downward spiral. Certainly need about 4 players in this window if we take injuries into account. There are very poor options on the bench.
For me 2 midfielders (a starter and cover), a left back option and another striker are what I think we need.
What I find most annoying is that last season looked like it we were pushing on but this season we have gone significantly backwards due to the boards failure to strengthen the squad adequately in the summer window. We could all see glaring holes in the squad. Richards, Johnstone and Ebiowei are not looking anywhere near first team starters and we lost Kouyaye, Gallager and Benteke who all could. It's okay investing in the future but you need to think about now as well.
Will we stay up. Possibly, just about, as other teams are looking poor as well. However, the work needed to strengthen the squad in the summer will be monumental. There are at least 6 to 7 that need replacing on top of the current requirements.
Vieira - I think he's working with very limited resources, but he how he can stick with Schlupp in midfield when it obviously isn't working is beyond me.

Continually, I reflect.
Is PV the right manager at Palace?
Last night match like with Fulham, he acts inexperienced.

We play like a 5 a side team. Watching the training session at Palace in December, brings it more home.

I watch the Touchline, I see a thinker in a manager.
Do I see organising or any urgency - no.
Do I question his tactics- yes
Do I questions his use of subs - yes
If he a nice guy - Yes

Where is he taking us this season - I dont know.

I dont recall 4 bad bad matches last season, as we had already this season. Everton, N Forest, Fulham, Spurs.
Matches at home against Leeds & Wolves only came alive in 2nd half.
The trend is worrying and his forward line doesn't work, his midfield set up doesn't work and defence has gone all shaky. Roy got stuck in his ways, Is PV the same.. Plan A replaced by Plan A!!!

Your thoughts?

To try and take a balanced view of the game
- we were slightly the better team in the first half
- we won’t come up against a player like Kane every week
- it’s rare for our defence to collapse as comprehensively as it did in the second half.

On the other hand
- Spurs created very little through midfield with all the threat coming down the sides and we did nothing to counter this with our full backs very exposed throughout.
Our tactical response was poor.
- Schlupp will never be the answer in central midfield and it’s baffling why he continues to be used there
- We have to many players who run with the ball rather than play first time passes.
Pass and move and making the ball do the work are fairly basic aspects of the game which often escape us, in particular in the absence of McArthur.
In my view it will be difficult to accommodate all of Zaha, Olise, Eze and Ayew in a consistently successful team in the absence of a solid midfield platform.

It’s unclear to me why the noises coming from the club point to very limited activity this transfer window.
We had money in the summer with moves lined up for Gallagher, Downes and AWB and also offered Kouyate a one year extension.
None of those players signed and McArthur has also been injured all season.
The gaps in the squad are all too apparent.

A lot of sensible points in there. Whist embarrassing, it was one of those days, vs us being a terrible team.

We were pretty good in hte first half, and going in 1 or 2 up wouldn't have felt unfair.

Kane is a scoring machine, he only needs a sniff. He got 2 and killed the game.

But you mention about over running with the ball. The 1 touch control then release is what Kane is unbelievably good at. 3 or 4 times he did this in the 2nd half, setting up chances and a goal.

Whilst I like Ayew, we have other more potent options, we have to start OE or JPM.

Whilst he has industry, Schlupp doesn't work. Despite Vieria's apparent dislike of Hughes, surely he has got to try and actually CM in CM soon.

I appreciate that PV has faced criticism and NO manager is above brickbats, however before each 'Window' he has asserted that the squad need bolstering.

When I consider his squad :

Two right-backs with a combined age of 64.

Mitchell at left-back who has not progressed as perhaps many had expected and I have never been that impressed with his performances.
No natural left-back cover with the right-footed Ward having to fill-in.

In terms of the midfield, In in my humble opinion Milivojevic is not the answer any more nor is Riedewald.Hughes has been heralded but whilst I can understand the arguments for his inclusion he lacks mobility and pace akin to Luka.Sadly I do not believe that we will be seeing McArthur in the shirt again and he is 35.
Eze has become a luxury player with flashes of brilliance but his workrate off the ball has been questioned, he is erratic and inconsistent and perhaps he is more suited to a No 10 role.
We are sorely missing the energy and pressing of Gallagher.
In short, not too many reliable options for PV in midfield !

Ayew has been given the nod recently as the central striker but he has scored 4 goals in his last 50+ games ! Mateta has never looked like a player to cause problems for PL defences and like Eduoard has fallen out of favour with PV as a starter.
In short PV does not have riches in the forwards department !

There are not too many options from the 'Bench' at a time when 5 substitutions are permitted.

I'm getting a bit fed up with Vieira. He's stuck with the formation for far too long when it's obvious it isn't working, and seems too stubborn to admit this. He of all people should know that you need to compete in midfield, yet the way he sets us up leaves us wide open.

The worst two right backs in the Premier League both play for Palace. Last night Clyne was a disaster. He didn't want the ball, didn't want to close anybody down and looked a bag of nerves.

Schlupp just did his usual floating about. Offers nothing going forward and isn't much better when we haven't got the ball.

I hope he has something up his sleeve as we have been sussed out and we have become very easy to play against.

There is nothing wrong with most of the players, a good CF is obviously needed and i am not sure what Doucoure adds, he cant read the game, cant pass, and is too lightweight.
The problem is as i have said numerous times is we have a rubbish pair in PV and Roberts, Cant motivate, cant organise, does he have any ruthlessness in him at all, he is too pally with the players, get rid of them both and make Freedman Manager with Derry assistant if not get Dyche.

You said after the Bournemouth game, look at what happens when you play the players in their correct positions, same line up last night.
What does Eze, your favourite bring to the team, just seems to drift through games, not tackling or covering back, he lost Doherty for his goal, he was 2 yards behind.
There are now too many flair players, not enough steel in the team. Freeman isn’t the answer as manager as seen at Bolton.
