Whilst I’ve got no love for Brighton, how did Liverpool finish with 11 players on the pitch? They were kicking Brighton without the ref taking action, Konate could have got red twice

I only witnessed the last 10 mins of the game and of course saw the tackles by Fabinho and Robertson. Whilst they were robust, I concluded that the award of Yellows by the referee were the correct decisions.

There's a surprise!

There would have been outrage amongst our supporters if our players had been handed Reds for those challenges.
The referee would have faced shot and shell.

The Fabinho one was awful. Everyone in the studio also thought it was red but the clearest indication was Fabinho's reaction - he was waiting to be sent off knowing VAR would be looking at it... luckily for him the VAR room is full of the same numpties in black that are on the pitch. I don't think he was intent on causing harm but that's irrelevant, it was an atrocious tackle and he knew it.

The only people that didn't think it was a red are seemingly the ref, var... and you. Sadly two of those opinions are quite important.

No, you defo do not speak for me on that assertion. As a long standing season ticket holder and a coach of over 20 years if I had witnessed the Fabinho one I would have expected my player to be sent off.

I have never known a team get so many decisions in their favour as Liverpool. It’s a disgrace.

I’m no fan of Brighton but I am actually glad they won, although the way the bias was against them I was fully expecting VAR to rule the winning goal out.

Indeed, anyone arguing against that needs a trip to Specsavers. You really do wonder what they look at on those monitors in the VAR room.

Just the normal bigger club leniency, pretty much in the way the appalling Pawson did our game last week versus the Saudis.

The VAR might have concluded that the Yellow was sufficient or that the decision was not a "Clear and obvious error".

In my humble opinion the tackle was robust but not "Atrocious" and the awarding of a yellow was the correct decision.
Respectfully, we will have to agree to disagree.

I thought Liverpool the better side in the second half, but the goal you always expect did not arrive.

The ref was ok imo, Fabinho must have been expecting the worst though.

An excellent finish hope Ayew was watching.

This negates another date we can play our game at the Amex.
If they win the next round I believe there will be none or very few dates available before seasons end.
Brighton plod will be happy when it’s announced on a Monday that the game is the next day!

I only watched the second half and it certainly looked like the ref was well disposed towards Liverpool.

On a different tack, Brighton's winning goal was very well taken by Mitoma who looks a lively, energetic and skillful player. Perhaps our scouts should take a trip to Japan.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.
