I think you've both arguing for, and against VAR at once there - and I totally agree !

VAR will be good for football, in it's evolved state. Right now it's not fit for purpose.
Take it away, get it right, then redeploy it properly. Don't employ a half baked, untested system on your Platinum product, test it out, iron out the kinks somewhere else first.

When the Technology is good enough to accurately track and Map ALL elements at play, i.e. ball position, defenders arm position etc, allowing for instant(ish) decisions (which will happen eventially) Then i'll be behind it.

right now it's a good idea badly implemented.

VAR magnifies issues that have always been there in football e.g. offside. Now that the technology is being used FIFA should consider changing the rules I think most of us think it silly that someones toe or arm is offside by a few inches.

In athletics the winner of a race is based on a line through the chest so other body parts are irrelevant for example.

The VAR system as it operated last Saturday, in favour of Crystal Palace, is one I support.

Please do not tinker with it !!!!!

Didn't work for Jota running into Guaita smiling though. It's just the same as before - usually favouring the big teams
Also just as incorrect and as subjective as before. But a good point, however.

Feels as though there's an element of justifying its existence.

This seems to be correct. Pushing ahead with it without it being liked by the fans - who everyone seems to forget are ultimately your customers. Football must be the only business that pisses off its customers constantly, yet they always come back. That and selling fags, heroin, crack or drink to alcoholics.

Or U2 records when Bonio is larging it.

Personally I'd be in favour of a challenge system. Instead of reviewing everything. It works well in other sports.

The one thing I particularly hate is sending the ref over to view it on the monitor. If he's got it wrong call it, if its marginal/debatable, let the original decision stand.

I said this from the very beginning!

Each manager should get 2/3 and applied same as Tennis - Correct challenge you keep it if not you lose it.

Might just fuel further controversy when inevitably VAR still gets things wrong however might also mitigate moaning from teams/managers as it'd be on them. Might also help with cheating too.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I appreciate that 'Negligence/Negligent" is used in everyday parlance to describe similar scenarios, however legally what you have described does not meet the elements of the tort of 'Negligence'.

They will still complain when a manager has used up his challenges and can't on a blatant mistake.

True, but you'd hope they'd firstly start using them wisely in the first instance and secondly stop the antics of the likes of Klopp/Conte as they could either challenge or face up to the fact they can't as they'd already been wrong on a few occasions. Would therefore be their own fault if they could not challenge something else!

It's a nice suggestion, but you'd also have to weigh up the negative effects of it being introduced, eg. time wasting and tactical use. Much like players using it to their advantage in tennis allowing time for recovery, or breaking an opponents concentration, stopping the momentum and so on. You're also adding to the amount of stoppages across the game.

It's not a silver bullet.
