I’m with you on this.

This season’s failures rests mainly with the board and SP as a result. The we have to get the right player in sounds great but not when you are leaving massive deficiencies in the squad. You need at least 2 players for each position. If who you want isn’t available you move on to the next target. We needed more bodies. Instead we chased players who weren’t going to come and brought in young players that weren’t ready and had to be loaned out.

But hey the manager can take the rap for the recruitment team’s incompetence.

Of course we are grateful to SP but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t made mistakes and the preparation for this season had been shocking.

Does it though. Reading on here and BBS so many posters refuse to blame SP at all. He saved the club blah blah. Yes he and others did but the last 2 transfer windows have been awful. Perhaps he should stop chasing impossible targets (CG) to appease the boys and start listening to what the manager wants.

We have lost games by 1 goal that we never looked liked getting anything from or even scoring a goal. We are shockingly bad and he would not change his approach. We lost 3 nil to an Everton side who were getting battered every week. We robbed a point against Newcastle and Brighton and the league had to apologise to them because of the errors. We are blessed to not be rooted to the foot of the table.

Our squad is our squad and he knew who is players were so no point saying he was hard done by in transfer window. He is the wrong man for the job and would have led us to relegation.

Yup. Agree with every word.

I'm guessing that the BBS have blamed it all on the Tories

You missed out the pre-season debacle where the squad had to be split in two so that the manager didn't see how half of his squad were performing

Of course not, it's Brexit

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

I'd like to see us go for someone like Rafa Benitez. Knows England, understands the Premiership, very experienced, has good connections across Europe. His style, while not identical to what Palace have tried to do is compatible. Many, if not most incoming managers would want to rip up our blueprint of how we want to play and would immediately revert us back to being a counter attacking team that rarely sees the ball. Ok, in the short term that might keep us up but over the longer term a counter attacking low possession team will fight relegation nearly every year until they go down. The reason Parish (quite rightly) wanted to change our style and grasp a bit more control over our own results (if you dont have the ball you are in control of nothing)
This is why, in my view Benitez (or someone like him) would be Mr Right and not just Mr Right Now.

If Roy is taken on even temporarily that will be the last of my money Palace see until he is gone. The last year and a half of his tenure with us and then the brief stint at Watford tells you all you need to know. He is a dinosaur in modern day football and his tactics are as old as some of his post match cliche comments.

It’s a resounding no from me.

Roy is 76 fsa, He might well have had enough. If he up for it, give him an 18 month contract, to avoid the drop this season and to oversee the squad revamp in the summer. Roy works closely with the players, and takes ever training session. I'm going to bet a tenner on Roy pulling it off.

I think the Boards Transfer policy is painfully apparent .. Buy young potential, put them in the Academy/U21s/U23s and hope they grow to improve the first team, in the meantime, spend just enough on 'PL ready' players to keep us in the PL.

The pre-season was a complete mess, then we lost Kouyate and Gallagher.

I was actually relieved we were doing better than I expected.

No-one really knows why such talented players can't hit a barn door from three yards and I like PV and think he did a good job for the club.

Someone could just walk in and the goals flow for no apparent reason, SP is really saying football is just like that, he just had to do something.
