As much as I would support the return of Sam Allardyce it should be remembered that he choose to "retire" rather than stay on as Palace manager. Pulis before him left under a cloud, so there may well be a problem between strong managers and the board. Whereas, Hodgson was very much a yes man.

I think this rules out Benitez who also will not be able to bring any players in at this stage of the season.

My choice would be Tony Popovic who I think has won the Australian League with soon to be three different clubs. I expect any move for him will be at the end of the season and he may have to start his UK career in the Championship.

Who ever takes over at the helm of this rudderless ship must have the minerals to grab the bollocks of players like Zaha, Mateta etc and rag doll them they've been coasting games for months. If their feelings are hurt, send them packing.

Contrary to many people's opinion if we could get six points under a temporary manager, and then appoint Rooney, I feel he would be an excellent choice. He is an imperfect human, and would relate well with the players. He would also help inspire the strikers. His appointment would do much more good than harm.

Rooney? What has he done as a manager, what qualities did he show as a player that lent themselves to management? Shagging grannies, shy school boy talking in cliches to the media... I don't see it

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Good call and he would have a proven striker at his disposal:

Benteke!!

No matter who does the job it may well seem dull if not negative ,from the sidelines ,
. There isn’t a team there that will lie down, every game is going to be win any way we can, and all to often it’ won’t be pretty. We should be able to do the dull bit, scoring some game winning goals is another matter though.

Rooney! Crikey that’s one I didn’t thing would be suggested.

And why do people keep saying Shaun Derry? He may have been a talisman player but as he was pushed out and the fact that he’s been a managerial failure in lower leagues means we’d be crazy to consider him. ‘Oh welcome to your new manager Shaun who pissed you all off a couple of months ago, I’m sure you’ll all be bursting to do your best for him’

Can’t see Benitez or Bielsa seeing us as a valid project.

I think we may well have shot ourselves in the foot today! Be prepared for third choice and uninspiring or having to try and persuade Roy out of retirement. Appointment of a full time manager in middle of August leaving us two weeks to get 10 new players in.

I think the bubble has finally burst. Welcome to a decade in the Championship or beyond.

What is the net worth of Palace now i.e. likely sale price Parish & co could get compared to how much we would be worth if we get relegated? Is Parish more or less likely to leave if we get relegated? Could this put off any new decent manager?

One of the biggest mysteries in life is that loud stupid people normally don't have even the slightest inclination that they are stupid.

Parish end off season you will sell the club, thank you for helping Palace and good bye

The club does not belong to Parish. He owns 20 percent of it . If he were to sell his stake i would imagine it would be to Texter to make him the majority shareholder .

If Roy returns, fair enough.

It's not fair enough. If Roy returns as a two-month emergency bandage (which, by the way, I'm not saying isn't a good idea) it shows the club has done no long-term planning, no preparation for changing the manager, and is basically reacting to events in desperation rather than controlling them. Since Parish only owns 20% of the club, what needs to happen is that the majority owners should remove him as CEO and hire someone for whom CPFC rather than his own ego is the main motivating factor. Parish has had his day and we're all grateful for what CPFC2010 did but just as managers have a shelf-life, so do chairmen. Parish's leadership of the club for over twelve months now has been woeful, and it's brought us directly to this pass.

What about Colin? Struggling at huddersfield. He could maybe talk Zaha into staying. Seriously though I have no idea. Still think we would have stayed up under Vieira.
