There’s just been an excellent interview with Hodgson on Talksport.
Worth listening to on catch up starting around 10.40am.
He had to field some leading and provocative questions from Simon Jordan which he fielded very ably.
Jordan insinuated that Hodgson was let go by Palace a few years ago but was deemed good enough now and asked how he felt about this change.
Hodgson responded, and this was new to me, that he had approached Palace a few months before the end of the season he left to inform the club he would not be renewing his contract (I.e his decision).

That was always my understanding. Roy could see a major revamp in playing staff was needed and decided he was unlikely to be able to see the club through the multi-year transition such revamp would take and so decided it was best left to a new younger man to handle.

Roy has been great.

The most surprising thing he has barely changed the side and has had to do without Wilf for the majority of the 3 wins.

He has also kept Schlupp in CM which even PV stopped doing near the end.

So what has changed? At times (in particular 1st half v Leeds) we have looked disjointed, have been overrun and have struggled to hold the ball - no difference to any PV performance, you could argue.

However, when the games have opened up we have played the ball quicker, have managed to get Eze in more attacking positions and it is no surprise that almost all the goals have been scored in the 2nd half.

Eze's transformation has been perhaps the biggest difference. Without CG he was always going to play a big role this season but he has struggled against the 'better' teams and with a few luxury players he was the one who was dropped when results turned after xmas.
Roy has clearly put his arm around him and got team giving him the ball in attacking areas.
It is great to watch.

Finally, we have had a little luck - something that should never be underestimated. Leeds could have been 2 up at h/t and Southampton should have taken at least one 1st half chance.

Agreed. Luck can play a big part; one decision either way or chance hitting the woodwork can make a major difference.
Maybe Eze's resurgence has coincided with his confidence returning after what was a pretty nasty injury.

What I see in post match interviews especially with Eze , is the confidence that has been instilled back in the side , eze snipes at viera quite alot , there was always something wrong when viera was in charge , the rumours about last February when parish wanted him gone when we were actually doing ok

Anyway

Lanzo Ad was right all along , fair play to you mate

The reason Lanzo Ad appears correct is purely because of what Mr Hodgson and his team has achieved and nothing else and I seem to remember the majority of supporters were not very happy with him returning, What was Lanzo's reaction to Mr Hodsgon?

It's all in the timing. Parish had plans to out PV since February and therefore was in contact with RH at some point thereafter. Ironically PV used Royball tactics during a difficult run of fixtures against higher placed opposition with a modicum of success, our league position holding steady around 12th place.
Roy comes in with 10 odd days preparation time with the players and has a set of fixtures mainly against teams lower than us in the league. Roy plays first season Patball with successful results, 3 straight victories. Roy is gracious enough to commend Pat on the standard of the players. Our league position remains a steady 12th place.

Agree with this.
Regarding the bit in bold.....it's worth noting that these last 3 games haven't been against 'better' teams. It's Also worth noting that Vieira hasn't been able to get a tune out of him even against the 'worse' teams during his tenure.
