I think many of us recognise that Zaha's impact may well diminish going forward and note that we are no longer solely dependent upon him to secure wins as we seem to have been in the past. However, in the absence of a replacement for him there has to be a concern about our forward options going forward if Zaha departs (Edouard, Mateta, Ayew). We've been linked with the likes of Gray and Adams, but these are nowhere near the class of Zaha and even if we take a punt on Franca or a player from an overseas league it's a big ask for them to act as replacement. Accordingly if it's a choice of going into a new season with or without Zaha then for me it has to be with him.

I think many of us recognise that Zaha's impact may well diminish going forward and note that we are no longer solely dependent upon him to secure wins as we seem to have been in the past.
However, in the absence of a replacement for him there has to be a concern about our forward options going forward if Zaha departs (Edouard, Mateta, Ayew).
We've been linked with the likes of Gray and Adams, but these are nowhere near the class of Zaha and even if we take a punt on Franca or a player from an overseas league it's a big ask for them to act as replacement.
Accordingly if it's a choice of going into a new season with or without Zaha then for me it has to be with him.

Absolutely! He has played some great games and scored some vital goals, but he’s also had a few howlers and moaned his way through matches but not been subbed. I don’t think that has been good for his development as a player or indeed the rest of the team. It’s a team game and no one should be guaranteed a place in the team or treated differently. We’ve moved on from the “can’t win without Wilf” and if he signs we should use him like any other player.

Absolutely! He has played some great games and scored some vital goals, but he’s also had a few howlers and moaned his way through matches but not been subbed. I don’t think that has been good for his development as a player or indeed the rest of the team. It’s a team game and no one should be guaranteed a place in the team or treated differently. We’ve moved on from the “can’t win without Wilf” and if he signs we should use him like any other player.

It's only a saga because journalists who know nothing about what's going on post stories as though they do know, and then football fans, who know as much as the journalists do, waste their time reading them. It's not a saga at all. It's about a footballer who is a free agent who isn't rushing into a decision about his future.
