Fan Panic or just nervousness?

I sense a degree of panic or is it just nervousness on this site since the Zaha revelation. But let's stop and ask ourselves: What has actually happened? Well 1. Zaha who left the club over 3 weeks ago has signed for another club. Should we really be surprised? 2. There has been a rumour that Olise has agreed terms with Chelsea but this is subject to Palace agreeing to sell him and as far as we are aware, the club have not accepted Chelsea's apparent offer of about 40m. 3. Previously there have been rumours that bigger clubs are after Guehi, Andersen and Doucoure but there have not been any bids of which we are aware - yes lots of speculation of how much would be needed to prise them away from us but no firm evidence of the club's willingness to sell at those prices or even at all. 4. So far we have signed one player on a free (Lerma). There's also a rumour we've signed a young defender who was at Bournemouth (Francis) but no confirmation of this from the club. We have another 5 weeks of the transfer window and I understand that this fact can make fans nervous when all the talk seems to be about other teams wanting our key players and very little talk about what we're doing. As things stand, the squad that went out to the USA yesterday (plus a few from the U21 squad) is the squad currently available for our first league game in just under 3 weeks. It is somewhat thin on the ground and we must hope that there will be some incoming movement and no or minimal outward movement. Let's see how we're placed on Saturday 2nd September. If all the future player movement is outward then that will be the time to panic.

The other factors I think to consider are the appointment of Roy as manager and the amount of time it took. If he was announced on the just before or after the season end, then we would see it as a just reward for how he had done since he came in. As it took so long you could speculate that he either wasn't first choice or after looking at our transfer budget deemed to be a safe pair of hands to look after a low outspend and a few outgoings. I've supported Palace for many years but right now I feel like we're a Poundland West Ham with a sh!t ground. I really hope there's some encouraging news coming out of Selhurst in the next three weeks because right now I'm depressed.

Honestly, nothing is known until the window closes. It has been a funny window due to all the Saudi activity. It's easy to worry, but only time will tell. We may have outgoings to figure out, and that means we need different incoming priorities. All we can do is wait and hope. I do think our recent record on transfers has been great so I have hope If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Honestly, nothing is known until the window closes. It has been a funny window due to all the Saudi activity.

It's easy to worry, but only time will tell. We may have outgoings to figure out, and that means we need different incoming priorities.

When I said Poundland West Ham I meant all round, not just the ground...

I do agree that we shouldn't be panicking, but there is some cause for concern....

Parish will have known that Wilf was intending to leave years ago. But as yet we don't have a clear replacement.

Not known if the youngsters, Malcom, Plange, RS etc will be able to make the step up to contribute next season

Olise is injured and will miss a chunk of the start of the season

Its clear that our 2 CFs aren't really up to the task.

We havent had a decent RB or years, and have jsut resigned 2 sub standard ones

We have 1 LB in patchy form

We have very little depth....just imagine if Eze gets injured in pre-season. We'll be set up to defend for a few months

I'm starting to think there will be no more incomings before the season starts and it will be a deadline day rush before we announce another 'promising youngster' like Plange and Ebiowei, who will spend 2 seasons out on loan and then released. Being a Palace fan makes you naturally pessimistic.
