Think I saw that Macca, Luka, Tomkins etc were on their way out.

I might need my tin hat here but we so desperately need a striker who knows where the goal is and how to get the ball into it ... been too many seasons since really had that .. FFS. Murray the last probably!

How about a couple of seasons with Vardy?

Pay per play and on results but Ive always liked him ... slippery fast and bit of mongrel in him.

Any takers?

Bear in mind beggars can't be choosers.

My guess is Sarr from Watford as straight replacement for Zaha.

Have any of the young guys out on loan developed enough to move up to the 1st team?

You'd assume that McArthur, Tomkins, Clyne and Ward will stay on and possibly Zaha. Ebiowei and Rak-Sakyi probably out on loan again.

However, with the exception of the goalkeepers and maybe central defence if Guehi and Tomkins stay, we pretty much need another RB, LB, CM, WF and FW, is that fair? Big summer ahead.

Seeing it put like this I can't help but agree with your final comments Canterbury P.

What is really striking is how potentially thin the squad is, especially if we don't renew some of those expiring contacts pretty sharpish.

We clearly have some genuine talent in the squad with which to build around but without some significant arrivals in both quality and quantity I really fear for what might happen in the event of just one or two key players picking up significant injuries.

Presumably SP has a plan but it would be good to see some tangible signs of it..

It is hard to disagree.

But with the renewals, that almost certainly locks down CB and RB (unless we bring that young lad that played against Valencia in)

Lerma, completes the CM.

Whilst I'd love more signings, there is only so much we can do in 1 window.

If we could, and its a big if, sign Gyokeres and keep Wilf I think we'll be a good position.

Gyokeres would be a significant statement but we can't hang around - only downside is that I think Brighton would benefit as I believe they have a sell on clause!

Agree to differ on Wilf - imo we've got to get used to life without him sooner or later and his wages would fund some decent cover.

I wouldn't be adverse to Wilf going, just know its going to be difficult to replace him. But would be more than happy with say Jack Harrison, or even a saint maximin

We must not forget to use the loan system properly as well, Spence from Spurs would seem ideal, and Nelson has not signed a new contract yet, maybe worth a punt

Would have been worth a punt, but news is saying that he's about to re-sign.

So much hangs on the balance of Wilf's decision. Hopefully he does the honourable thing and makes a decision early, either way.

That could be a FLAGSHIP signing rather than a mere PUNT.

Schlupp and Ayew signed new 1 year contracts in April. Tomkins and Clyne are rumoured to have signed new deals but not yet confirmed by club as far as I recall.

PS Phillips name doesn't need the apostrophe.
