This is the point, how many of the outgoing numbers include for example UK doctors going to Australia, Canada and the US.

Even the Hong Kong Hospital Authority is having recruitment roadshows in the UK

If it were not for ageing Parents who need help I would be gone myself.
I love where I live and am fiercely patriotic (otherwise known as colonial racism now) but this Country is going to the dogs and current migration is not helping matters.

The numbers have been distorted by Covid and students.

There was a massive drop of incoming (immigration) during covid but those leaving (emigration) increased. i.e. Possibly people going back to their country of origin during covid. Students, which makes up the biggest portion, also stopped coming over.

If you look at the graphs this can be confirmed.

I would be interested to see numbers based on who was leaving the UK during that period. Was it UK residents leaving or those who previously immigrated here. I suspect it was mostly the latter.

I've never understood why Students are included in these numbers. Foreign students need a visa and once their course has finished need to leave (after a short period depending on the length of the course) or re-apply to stay and work here.

The above is also stated in the analysis shown below.

Is it because they stay for more than one year?
Many also bring family members with them - to be stopped as of Jan 1st 2024 I believe?
If they are shown as coming in - are they also shown as leaving when they go - that would provide a balance?

I noticed Sunak saying they intend to act on this like it was an amazing brainwave, rather than something that should've been in place a decade ago. They clearly knew this was a way in and just didn't care. They're not genuinely looking to cut immigration; they actively increase it while claiming the opposite and will continue to do so.

One of the papers pointed out that reducing immigration has been in every Tory manifesto since 2010, absolute disgrace.

My brain still works fine, thank goodness. Had a meeting with my MP this morning and had a very detailed, complicated issue to discuss with her. I am much more familiar with the subject area than her so could hardly have managed it with a dodgy brain! Having grasped the points very clearly she will now meet with the Minister to discuss it on my behalf.

Our democracy in action!

It will still be there in 2050. It's a perennial jam tomorrow gift to the "blue till I die" brigade of Tory activists.

I never lived in Lincolnshire, which is hardly "ethnically diverse" anyway!

Hey, if people are happy with immigration and what it brings I've no problem with that....though I note that many of its advocates don't live their principles on the matter. Still, I do and It doesn't change where my personal choices are or will be.

Personally I think the demographic map of where people move to provides the actual truth.

As usual, you are either missing or more likely avoiding the point.

Which was that your claim that the majority think as you do is no longer true. You are completely entitled to your opinion but you also need to realise it's now a minority who think that way, and that has consequences. Not least in the way it's handled politically.

If true, so what? Most brains work wherever you live. There are exceptions though.

In fact, things are changing rapidly locally, especially in Truro where there is a noticeable inflow of Asian and African immigrants since Brexit.

Surely not making assumptions about people based on their appearance?

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Yes but the latest figures are distorted because very few came over during covid. This has been the case for a lot of data, A dip followed by a surge. Then back to normal again.
