Whom nobody seems to mention anymore in the 'next manager' stakes is Paddy MvcCarthy. When his name got memtioned after PV's dismissal I thought it was a mix of potentially dangerous dreamcasting and cheap journalism based on a one match 'caretaker' role. Now I'm not so sure. The changes we've seen in play when in posession must have been dreamt up somewhere. Why moreover would you move a successful U21 coach to a first team position at very high risk at the end of an allegedly temporary tenure? My personal opinion is Roy would stay on to complete a project - transitioning Paddy to the manager's role - but not just to get Parish and freedman off the hook. If that is the direction of travel, then whether the last ten games showed it might be a goer and if so whether another season under mentorship is needed or not will take time to work out.

My guess is that Roy and Wilf will still be with us next season, but it's based on a feeling rather than hard evidence.

I think deep down we’re all feeling that, Roy is the safe option and I think Wilf knows now any move is going to be a sideways step at best, his chance of a big move has gone

No thank you. Paddy might be a great manager-in-the-making but he needs to go and earn 1st team coaching experience at a lower level, whether that's League 1 or Championship or perhaps SPL.

I'm sure he's doing some good work but it's too risky to employ such an inexperienced manager to take us to the 'next level'.

Our ambitions are top half Premier League. For that, we need to bring in a manager with 1st team experience with success in lifting teams and developing players. Paddy might be one for 10 years time, but not now.

Also, Roy has a much better team at his disposal now compared to when he was in charge previously. I don't think Roy would of not known about possession football, he is surely just more aware we have the strengths to play that way now.
