We almost never buy anyone... I must have missed when the likes of Eze, Olise, Doucoure, Guehi, Andersson, Franca, Ahamada and Eduard came through our academy...

It is funny that the one position you would expect Dougie to have a better understanding of is the one he has so far made a bit of a pig's ear at filling. Over the rest of the pitch him and his team have done brilliant work with many of their signings now valued at least three times or more than what we paid for them.

The problem is that for 20 odd million (I suspect our upper spend amount) you don't get a lot of striker. The answer has to be find a striker who can make the step up from the lower leagues. But not many of them make the grade
