Unlikely as having no substance they would soon fall apart.

Or indeed, for me to say I was touched in the toilet area by Wisbech at a business conference 20 years ago. Is that evidence ? No, it's slander and defamation , until it goes to court.

But by then, all the subsequent details/evidence/bvll5hlt I might release would tarnish your good character to such an extent, that no-one would want to stay in one of your care homes.

Should you do so you would be sued for defamation as we both know itís untrue and that no evidence exists. You would lose a lot of money and my reputation would not be impacted. No one that matters would believe it, especially as I sold my care home 20 years ago and retired completely more than 10 years ago.

Itís a ridiculous analogy.

The Brand matter must have substance or the corporate oversight of the various media companies would not have allowed publication. They simply would not permit such a risk to be taken no matter how much pressure their editorial arm exerted to get the story out there.

It would be a more believable defence than outright denial.

He too is a reformed drug addict who probably could benefit from counselling of some kind. Not that his narcissistic personality means he will realise it.

Courts decide punishment. People can reach opinions irrespective of anything done in court.

Should I be accused of not maintaining gas appliances as a landlord I would laugh all the way to the bank. I donít possess any gas appliances as a landlord.

Courts decide guilt and apply an appropriate punishment.

I don't think a deceased person can be tried, as they have no opportunity to defend themselves - a basic right of our legal system.

The Saville case cannot be compared as it was so full of systematic failures across all involved to the point that the Jusdicial system in this country failed the victims. It should be used as a lesson for the system to be improved upon.

All those with an opportunity to defend themselves have that right, and should be afforded it.

Sounds like you've already made your judgement. The Media have done their job. Why do we even need a justice system at all ?!

If you mean by exposing the matter, yes they have. For all the reasons being explained in the various pieces being written those abused are often reluctant to go to the police. Now that reluctance will lessen.

The justice system can now step in, test the claims and apply appropriate punishments if found proven. In the meantime some will regard it as just a media witch hunt and others wonít.

Yes, and we've all seen how good his judgement is.

The issue is not really about Brand but about trial by TV and the motivations for it.

Wisbech seems to think that destroying someone's life before any criminality is proven is OK.

If they have no substance then Brand should be immediately instructing lawyers to sue the various media companies for defamation and make public statements to that effect.

He would get millions in compensation and enhance his reputation if that is true.

I donít see it happening and I donít expect it to. No media company would publish claims of this sort unless they know they are true.

Letís see who is right.

and if found innocent, a whole load of sh1t will have been thrown for nothing, and he will forever have been tarnished with said sh1t, with all the sh1t throwers aiming for someone else.

Depends who it is

Yes it does, on who is doing it and why.

Making snide comments and suggestions of wrong doing by political opponents is not the same as publishing the results of a lengthy enquiry by investigative journalists whose work has been cleared by a companyís legal department as posing no risk of counter claims.

Why I loved Sean Lock.

He wasn't a fan of Brand back in 2014, particularly if one of his daughters brought him home (at the end of the clip)

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

If found innocent he will become an even richer prat than he is now. He would gain multi millions in compensation without even having to sue and his reputation within his target audience would sore.
