Why would Putin want to do that? The invasion of Europe dates back to the 'war' against Libya.

And we are seeing the end game playing out now. Because if some of the unverified footage coming out is even half true, the backlash from Israel is going to be horrendous.

I care not a jot for either side but I am convinced that it is Europe being set up to pay the price.

This is truly the moment a lot of chickens start coming home to roost.

Many experts have said Putin wants to do it to destabilize Europe and cause unrest which will intern result in problems for the individual countries' governments and create a distraction for him to take advantage of in Ukraine etc.
There is speculation that the Wagner group are helping to get the migrants to that Italian island at the moment.

Israel has considerable influence in the most powerful country in the world. Just listen to most of the bought and sold US politicians' statements. Apparently they are the US's greatest ally, despite for the life of me not seeing what they actually offer the US.

It was there before their rise and they wouldn't be going anywhere.....even if the US radically changed policy....precisely because of the money.

You only have to look at what the US spends on foreign nations to see where the bread is buttered.

People aren't going to voluntarily give up meal tickets.....the real untold story is how it all got to this state.

An offensive from Palestine has been brewing for around a year. Not mentioned in mainstream news is the continual incursion/invasion into Palestinian territory and the deaths caused by Israeli soldiers.
This was the excuse Israel was looking for to take more Palestinian land, and kill more Palestinians.

'Excuse'? You expect Israel to just sit back and let it happen?

Hamas are behind attacks on Israel and civilians pay the price.

Israel has been steadily eroding Gaza and the West bank for decades. It is clearly their policy.

Palestine will cease to exist at some point.

If you're Israel then allowing the existence of Hamas is similar to the British allowing the existence of the IRA.....essentially it means that you have continual low level war.

They managed to reduce attacks significantly by building that wall (despite the left and Hamas saying it wouldn't) However, if an enemy wants to kill you it'll eventually find a way....all you can do is make it harder.

If I were Israel I wouldn't countenance the existence of Hamas.....then again, if I were the British government I wouldn't have countenanced the existence of the IRA.

You go to war, defeat or be defeated.....Or you give them what they want while kneeling as little as possible.

The British essentially gave them what they wanted with the Good Friday Agreement....as much as they could with the unionists objecting.

Israel isn't going to do that.

Their last PM who tried quickly ended up on a slab.

As for the thinking with Hamas.....I think it's just hatred....they say it's started for retaliation for Israeli raids in the Al Aqsa Mosque, but whatever.

As with Ukraine their only hope is in expanding the conflict. I don't really see this as how to do it. Building coalitions amongst the Arabs is the obvious method.

Regardless of the thinking I abhor all the innocent deaths that come from this continual conflict. Breaking into homes and killing people is indefensible no matter who does it.

The whole conflict is a scar on the world that was created and enabled post WW2.

Blame already seems to be getting laid at Iran.
I'd imagine this is a precursor to War with Iran, the democrats desperately need a War.

Africa going to s***, middle east going to s***, war in Europe, China exerting it's dominance...

Not looking good is it

the greatest recruitment-agent for Hamas and the 'RA ? well, that will be genocidal actions from the other side.

and i need not bother catalogue them, in both cases. In politics, the extremes of opposites feed off of each other. A violent Left will give birth to a violent Right. And so on......

The British never tried, they never even went after the foot soldiers let along the leadership....knew where they lived....it was always a reaction not a war.

As for Israel, I'd say their policy has been rather effective....they just chose the slow burn route. Anyone who looks at the demographic map changes over the years sees it....it's the old frog in the water routine.

How we feel about the right and wrongs is something else....like everything else, all that matters in the end is the result.

I don't see what the Palestine people will get out of this. I suppose all Hamas can do is hope to drag everyone else into their mess. Lots of civilians on both sides will die for nothing.

The Israelis don't get a free pass from me but given the choice....
