Sorry, you were 'informed'? It is common knowledge from his post match presser. C'mon lad, keep up.

I admit, I have not heard any of his post-match comments.
Far too occupied with calls and messages regarding our current situation.

Agree with this - Bournemouth recruited a progressive coach, were ambitious in the transfer market, and last night that made short work of a squad severely lacking in investment and a manager who is looking increasingly out of his depth against progressive opposition.

Hearing Ray Lewington screaming ‘GET IT f***IN UP THERE’ when we win a free kick on the halfway line tells me all I need to know - it’s Sunday league stuff.

Roy’s comments should see him shown the door in my opinion - not just for being accusatory to the fans, but if he views that as a reasonable performance level that is worth support, that is a major concern.

On the squad; it’s almost laughable. Schlupp is now our 4th highest ever appearance maker in the Prem - that alone should tell the board everything. Ward and Clyne would not stand out in the championship, and I think most clubs in the division now have a first and second choice right back better than both of ours. How on earth can a club expect to function without signing a proper full back for a decade?

The whole club just reeks of a lack of ambition - you can hear it in every press conference, be it Parish or Roy - constantly managing expectations, constantly pointing to what a struggle it is, constantly talking up competitors - they clearly view where we as the pinnacle and it seeps into every decision we make.

In terms of the RL comment - i personally wouldn't mind if we lumped it forward. Instead whenever we get a free kick outside the final third we pass it back and it usually ends up back with the goalie. Completely pointless.

Don't get me started on corners and throw ins - no imagination for the former and clueless for the latter

If it felt like we had made a plan to do so, neither would I honestly. It just all feels like it’s made up on the spot.

There was a throw in yesterday that Clyne was taking - we were pinned back quite far in our own half, Kluivert was putting a boot on or something which meant we had a spare man to get us out of the corner… Clyne literally waited for Kluivert to get back in position and mark the spare man, launched an aimless through down the line and we lost possession.

It feels like we don’t even have a broad structure as to how to approach set pieces, never mind specific routines that most teams roll out.

Another bit of U21 context;

Ola-Adebomi currently has the 2nd best goals/minutes ratio of any forward since the PL2 was formed, only bettered by Folarin Balogun in 21/22.

Ola-Adebomi scored 0.79 per 90 last season, which is the 5th ever best season at that level.

Balogun 21/22 - 1.35 goals per 90
Ola-Adebomi 23/24 - 0.92 goals per 90
Nketiah 17/18 - 0.92 goals per 90
Delap 21/22 - 0.91 goals per 90
Ola-Adebomi 22/23 - 0.79 goals per 90
Balogun 20/21 - 0.74 goals per 90
Ferguson 21/22 - 0.73 goals per 90
Summerville 21/22 - 0.71 goals per 90
Gyokeres 18/19 - 0.39 goals per 90

Who’s the only one on the list never to play a professional minute?

It’s far, far too simplistic to say ‘if they were good enough they would be playing’ - developing players who perform well at academy level is a skill, and we as a club are woeful at it.

Well yeah he's the youngest, of course players 5 years before him have now played professional football ffs

Schlupp, Mitchell, Ward, Clyne, Richards - all of them are absolutely awful with a ball at their feet. How in the name of god can we be a decent team when a chunk of our players can’t even play football.

Putting Mateta on again with 5 minutes to go is beyond ridiculous

I have backed Roy a lot but I really hope he leaves soon..

.

Schlupp has essentially been a bit part player for the last 10 years with both us and Leicester. Never a regular, often used to cover injuries and because of his versatility.
With Olise injured and Zaha leaving having him as the only LW option for the first 3 to 4 months of the season is bizarre. His confidence is shot.

Clyne was a decent stop gap option when AWB left. We are now 4 years on and we have the same stop gap. Unbelievable.

Richards in CM as a stop gap away from home made some sense. Playing him at home was a bizarre selection - he looked lost and can't believe he wasn't subbed at half time.

Hughes should be a fixture with Doucoure injured, however, he has been woeful recently. The fact that Richards started in front of him should be a wake up call. However, he is just so slow not sure he can improve that much. He's 28 but plays like he was 38!

I am informed he mentioned that the supporters had been "Spoilt".
At Selhurst Park over the previous 3 seasons we have only won 20 PL games, averaging just a tad over 6 Home wins a season.

He probably didn’t need to say it, but he since a kid he has been total football, not even as he moved slowly up the tree did how much people pay to watch the game, or possibly how much the modern game costs to watch. It really was a few pence when he first entered Selhurst Park.
He knows as do others of those still around, that no matter how much you now pay for watching football , Palace and have been competing for ten years in the best league in the world, some of the best players in the world often on show win lose or draw.
And that’s something that Palace supporters of more than ten years of age had never done before.
I’m one of his generation, football for us was always a love affair in its self just with the game. It’s good times it bad times , it’s problems to solve, it’s sheer uncertainty most days, entertainment? Not if that’s all we could claim , the game is far more important than that. At £50/60 whatever a game to get in it’s now entertainment or else it seems , and if you say you never had it so good , as he seems to be saying it’s only the money that provokes a response, because believe me the last ten years good and not so good have never been surpassed.

You’d think you at least check before steaming in two footed.

Ferguson is a year younger than him FFS.

Wow, you have about 6 goals a game on average in the u21s, eduoard would score about 40 goals a season playing against kids.

I have been a supporter of our club since the 60s and have experienced the peaks and troughs over the decades. I recall those days of about 8,000 in the lower divisions in an empty Selhurst Park. My goodness I have suffered pain supporting our club in all weathers Home and Away !

I of course do appreciate our extended run in the PL and long may it continue.Mr Hodgson used the word "Spoilt" citing good results at Selhurst Park in recent seasons, hence my statistic apropos our home wins in the last three campaigns.

I have probably not much new to add, but didn't get back from the game until 1am and just got home from work, so this is my first chance to post.

We were appalling last night, but I wouldn't put much blame on the players. I don't think we lacked effort, but sadly last night's line-up lacks ability. Too many of our players are simply not good enough to be PL starters. Ward, Richards (as midfielder), Schlupp and Clyne (early sub) would not be very good in the Championship, let alone the PL. Edouard and Ayew are mediocre in the PL. Lerma is decent in the PL and I thought had a good game last night, but only Andersen (our best player as usual), Guehi and Olise (disappointing last night) are high quality PL players. That's just not a good enough team in the PL. I wondered what Lerma was thinking, having come to Palace and and seeing his supposedly smaller old team full of players who would have walked into the Palace line-up (and we were heavily linked with at least 3 of them, but "missed out".

Perhaps the board calculated that Roy would keep us up for 1 more season whilst they consider who to appoint next, but they have made a right royal cock-up this time. They have failed completely in the transfer market. Roy is also partially to blame for last night's fiasco. The decision to play Richards in midfield in preference to Hughes or Riedewald was pure defensiveness - not that Hughes or Riedewald are exactly dynamite, but both are more progressive than Richards. Roy then fails to give the young players a chance even when the mediocre old guard are manifestly failing. Why not play Ahamada from the start in place of Schlupp, why not bring Franca on in an attempt to bring some creativity to a team with almost none, why not give Ozoh a chance ? I am not saying these changes would have won us the game, but I don't believe it could have been worse, and maybe one or more would prove themselves up to the challenge.

Perhaps the saddest indictment of last night's performance was that it was no surprise when Bournemouth took the lead. Bournemouth were the better team with the better individual players. The board need to think deeply about that, and Roy...well he won't change will he, he'll just retract further into his shell. I didn't boo the players because I thought they tried and were simply not good enough, and if anything they need our support when the put on the red and blue, however modest their talent.

I too have been supporting Palace since the late 50’s and am now living in Lancashire surrounded by Bolton Preston Blackburn and Blackpool supporters. These teams have had little success in recent years compared to the past relative to us when success has come in the last 10 years. It is the exact opposite to us the old boys here witter on about the good old days and the youngsters live in the present hoping for progress. Our youngsters have Premiership values and anything less is a disaster whereas the old Palace boys like me compare it to Third Division South days. Supporting a football team will be forever thus. .COYP

Which is entirely irrelevant when comparing the scoring rate of players who all play in that division.

Wow
