Wrong. Those reports put out by his “team”. Awful interview apparently

Does it matter? We will never know the truth. I think we can all agree we dodged a bullet.

I see his mate Gerrard isn't exactly pulling up tree trunks in Saudi, expect to see him back with the Sky pundits very soon.

Imagine you are the Chairman of CPFC interviewing for a new manager.

What would impress you enough to say this is my guy?

My thoughts would be this, bearing in mind this is Palace and not Moneybags United.

I would expect any coach to outline what they could do to improve the current players without throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

In other words "I would play attractive football, score lots of goals and win trophies" sounds great but this is Palace.

A more realistic assessment might be "I would get the players to move the ball quicker and work on corners and tactical substitutions earlier in the game."

We haven't scored once from a corner this season. We are amongst the slowest movers forwards of the ball in the prem.

We need to look what is happening out there right now.
Wolves and Bournemouth would be a clue. Both ranked in top 3 last six games.
Both very young forward thinking managers.
Modern methods are working.
Using the 5 subs rule regularly.
Moving the ball fast forwards.
Stuff I haven't got a clue about, but they have!
Its working.
When did we last score from a corner?
All our opposition need to do when we are attacking is kick it out for a corner and they are safe.

Indeed, and as I've stated before: football teams are a reflection of their manager.

Arteta at Arsenal
Alonso at Leverkusen (top of Bundesliga Germany.
Now, Iraola at Bournemouth.
All three grew up in San Sebastian, Basque Country.

Then there is Michel at Girona (12,000 capacity stadium) in Spain. came from nowhere as a manager to be currently equal top of Spanish league with Real Madrid. As a player he was at Rayo Vallecano (Real Neighbour). Recently thrashed Barcelona.

These young progressive mangers are out there. Im really not sure we are even looking.

Good call, but not until the end of the season i like Iraola but whether he would come i dont know, i think he might, or Kompany, Burnley are the poorest club in the league, Alan Pace their major shareholder has about 190m, but they have just bought Mike Tresor from Genk, for 18m, hasnt done great on loan, but is going to be a good player

For Palace people have said Cooper but I would rather someone like Potter. Chelsea was too big of a step for him. But he can definitely be a manager that takes Palace to a realistic next level and that is consistent top 10.

We don't have a Benteke heading ability to attack corners. Also, many of our corners were poor up.

My observation. We tend to prefer to pass the ball backwards and sideways than to run and carry the ball fast onwards to attack. Yesterday, many a time I noticed Clyne, when he had the ball either to run forward with it or crossed it to our waiting players outside the oppo box he instead chose to pass it backwards or sideways.

Most likely he is under instruction to do so, in addition to which he's lost some pace so if he gets caught upfield it's a long way back - both left and right flanks fall into this category.
But as we continuously hear, what choice does Roy have but to play a right sided full back on the left when the deficiencies in those areas have been ignored for some good time by the board?
