HNY Everyone,

Unfortunately not much to report, we will definitely sign 2 maybe 3 of which 2 will likely be loans.

Not all is well behind the scenes so this will be interesting come May/June.

Zaha could be on the move but I would expect this to be at the end of the season & if he does likely to return to Palace for £3m.

We have been linked with Clark, Nketiah & Ekitike but no movement on these yet.

Will post if I hear anything.

Please Don’t.

We had far too much misleading nonsense in the last window.

Lets not forget ( although I happily would ) Emmanuel Adebayor.

Peanut vendors around the ground, half times scores displayed via letters and numbers displayed over the hoardings (you had to have a match programme to decode), Football Combination games where you could watch veteran great players on their last legs, Bovril and the smell of fried onions.
Jumpers for goalposts anyone….?

Leave your bike in someone's garage in Park Road for 3p. Cycle home and arrive just in time to hear Sports Report at 5pm. Stand at the top of the terraced section on what is now the Arthur Wait. Above you was grass - or mud in winter.
Those were the days my friend....

Match at 3PM followed by the purchase of the Evening Standard Classified for the match reports.
Up north the 'Pink' and the 'Green'un'.

I always remember stopping off at services on the way home from northern away days to get the pink paper for the results, otherwise you had to wait till the Sunday papers for the rest of the results if no-one had a radio on them

I recall purchasing the 'Pink' when I was staying with friends in Hale,Cheshire.

Some gentleman I used to know in bygone days was a supporter of Sheff Utd and he used to mention the "Green un".

The thing I recall with the Pink paper is that in some instances it would only be the latest scores in some instances as it would have gone to print early.
There may also have been a brief report on the first half but scant detail on second halves.
If there had been VAR and extra time back then, this would have increased the inability to produce final scores although no doubt there would have been an extensive report of the 12.30pm kick off.

Apologies for hijacking this transfer thread, but in my disillusioned state,a trip down memory lane is a welcome diversion.

I have been told today that we have made an enquiry for Getafe striker Borja Mayoral.

We will see if this goes anywhere , I don’t think it will as I believe they want £30m+

I’m probably wrong, but wasn’t the green one the midlands version? Possibly? I seem to remember if we were too early for the pink, we stopped in the midlands for the green.

There must have been a 'Green' in the midlands as well.
I simply recall my chum in his Yorkshire lilt referring to the "Green Un".

In terms of the 'Evening Standard Classified', I recall supporters arriving in a newsagent establishment, paying for the paper and waiting for the delivery. Once they were delivered they simply picked up the ESC and walked out.

If you went 'up West' to the theatre or pictures you'd get queues forming at the newspaper vendors around 10.30pm to get first print of the 'Sundays' with match reports. A van would pull up and drop a big bundle of them on the pavement. They'd all be gone in minutes.
