I agree with you; however, I sense that DF will be incredibly hard to replace as his influence stems to every corner of CPFC - recruitment, contracts, managerial appointments etc. He also seems to have a very good and trusted relationship with the owners who respect his judgement and track record.
Will be a real shame if he goes and very big boots to fill.

I would guess he wants to stay to see the team and taken the has helped to build come to fruition

Manchester to Newcastle remains a distance of nearly 150 miles, so in the grand scheme of things, a move to Newcastle will not fully resolve this issue.

He was at the game last night and seemed very happy and comfortable.
My only worry is that his family apparently lives in Manchester which might be a reason he is thinking about a move?
His work doesn't involve being at CPFC every day of course.
We can but hope - he is Palace through and through - let's hope that fact wins through.

Telegraph reporting that he is the 'marginal frontrunner' for the Newcastle job and 'interviewed well'. Makes me wonder exactly how we're putting together a plan for the summer transfer window if our sporting director is trying to get a different job.

Anyone know what length of contract he is on? Presumably we could do a Newcastle and put him on gardening leave like they have with Ashworth. Of course, the latter might be getting cold feet about joining United now and decide he would rather join Palace

Doogie should know full well more than most that the grass is not always greener on the other side, he can't have forgotten Bolton, though Man U or toon wud have money unlike Bolton.

incredibly Man U may not have much money for transfers, their losses are 100m so only 5m more in losses allowed under FFP

Here is the bbc article - [Link]

Shows the industrial scale of bad transfer fees and wages they have paid considering their absolutely vast income

So maybe that is why they think they need some more astute cheaper signings by someone like Freedman?

The problem with that is that the Championship talent who step up do tend to need some time to find their way in a less pressurised environment. So it can be the second year where they really kick on. Wharton has done extremely well as it only took to his second game to start looking the part.

Carrying the burden of delivering on Man U fans perception of their divine right to win everything always is a tough one.

Man has job. May want another one. Nothing to see and no loyalty due from him beyond his contractual obligations to us. Especially to all those fans who thought he was a donkey.

All that matters is that we have someone better lined up.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

24 years ago United withdraw from the FA cup because it wasn't a big enough competition for the club.

In a couple of weeks time their supporters will be praying to win the same competition.
