Hi
Just caught up with this thread.
I attended the Colchester away game in March 1964. Our goal was scored by Alan Stephenson, later sold to West Ham.The game began in perfect weather until an absolute deluge put paid to the game at half-time.
The replayed fixture was an evening match which I also went to. We equalised from a second half penalty, scored by Stuart Imlach, to make the score 1-1 - as it was in the abandoned game you have recorded.
Incidentally, I was at last night’s Bournemouth game - in the 80th minute,1-0 down in the wind and rain, thinking back 60 years, and forlornly wishing for an abandonment. Some hope!
The quality of pitches is now hugely different, so I guess it is now much rarer for a game to stop because of a waterlogging. No doubt your interesting research will show whether this is so.
