The difference perhaps is that I try to take positives from situations whereby others cannot get around seeing only the negatives.

Your comment being a good example.

The world would be a boring place if we were all the same !

Many would assert that I don't set the heather on fire, that I am an unconscionable bore, a cast-iron chateau-bottled yawn !

Going back in the thread when Ahamada came on Lerma was replacing Hughes and Ahamada was taking the attacking midfield position. Why knock Ahamada Öhe is a far stronger player than a year ago and deserves his chance. The late goals were due to tired legs and lack of concentration. Perhaps Lerma should have been substituted too but that would have given us a very inexperienced midfield.
The goal that really irked me was their first, which was totally lack of concentration and Hughes was yet again complicit.
It will be interesting to see whether Franca or Jes is chosen once Jes is fitÖ.at least Jes can defend!

Going back and re-watching the highlights the first goal is a lack of communication between Richards and Mitchell. They are both right next to the player who delivers the cross but neither track him. Not great. The second goal they break and the players who could have done a tactical foul were on bookings, so it's tough. The third goal was just because we were desperately chasing the equaliser so we can ignore that.

In the first half Franca brushes of Caicedo on the edge of our area runs the full length of the pitch but JPM doesn't make the right run and almost gets in his way and it breaks down on the edge of their box. Second half Franca finds space, runs half the length of the pitch and delivers a neat pass to JPM's feet in the box. Hopefully these types of understandings will develop.

We had three new starters in our line-up yesterday, plus we were missing our usual centre-back pairing. Given that we still looked like a team. I think there were reasons to be optimistic last night and it was great to see some new faces making an impression. Lerma, for me, was the real leader and character out there though. He really wore his heart on his sleeve.

Good to read some positivity !

Lerma showed his character last night, I was pleased for him.

The highlight for me was Adam Wharton. He looks like he can be a class act.

There certainly was much more commitment last and as others have said a big improvement on the last game at BH&A. Its was flattering to Chelsea that they won 3-1 and on balance we probably we deserved a point. However we ended up with nothing and we are very much in a dog fight for survival. Going forward from what I have seen last night, unless those key injured players recover quickly I cannot see us surviving this year as we just do not have enough quality. The passing accuracy last night was very poor, especially out of defence at the end we were a very tired team who used energy to mask our lack of skill and game craft. I do hope I'm wrong but with our goal difference and our lack of quality in the final third it just does not look good.

Good points above, I am actually feeling more optimistic after last nights game. Enough of the team showed they are capable of fighting, add to that key players to return then we are capable. Itís going to be a tough ride but my expectations now are survival and a summer rebuild with a new manager

I don't envisage Burnley or Sheff Utd finishing above us in the table.Luton's next 3 games are against Man Utd, Liverpool and Aston Villa. Our home game against Luton on 9th March could be pivotal.

Bit bored this morning so thought I would look at some scoring stats for the opposition against us this season

1) First 5 minute goals - Everton, Sheffield, Brighton
2) First 5 min 2nd half - Everton, Chelsea
3) Last 10 minutes- Villa, Everton, Chelsea, Brighton
4) Extra time - Wolves, Villa (2), Bournemouth, Arsenal (2), Chelsea (2)

The truly damning statistics are in the last 10 minutes plus extra time we have conceded already this season 13 goals.

The impact on points is not quite as great as I anticipated however as a result of the above we have given up 7 points, which for a team like us would have been extremely valuable.

So what we should be working on by the looks of the stats is seeing out games. Over to you Roy.

Like many on here, for me last night's performance gave me a glimmer of hope. With GM and EE back for the run-in we should be OK.

Yup, think thatís how many of us felt after last night. Once those players are back we will hopefully stay up. I donít hold much hope for the Everton game but will need to beat Burnley and Luton in forthcoming home matches going into the Newcastle at home game. Also thought a mistake was made last night by not bringing on Ozoh when Hughes tired. Ahamada isnít yet strong enough, especially if we are trying to hold on to a result. Hughes will eventually be a good bench player when our players return from injury.

Couldn't fault anyone for effort but that is no substitute for skill. We basically lack it.

Some positives: thought Richards playing CB had one of his best games. Wharton has quality but needs to adjust to the PL pace.
Franca showed a positive outlook and when he, as well, adapts to the pace and bustle he will improve. Nunoz is mobile and an upgrade.

Henderson blameless but it is now 14 let in in last 4 games and can't understand why Johnstone (England's No.3) is ignored. Must be inhouse politics I suspect!

Lerma's screamer was great but he lacks ball control and finesse. Ayew was below par and constantly moaning, as usual.

We need, and have for years, a midfield playmaker (like Watson, Cabaye) to slow things down.

Things look bad until the return of our 'magic duo'
