That's what you say, predictably.

So to sum up. You think there is no control element to these laws.
You think that there are no protected groups and that
members of those protected groups are not largely responsible for the recent explosion of street crime.

I would have to ask if there is anything you wouldn't deny in order to keep believing in your ideological fantasy.

The summing up is wrong from start to finish.

Of course there is a control element, as there is in every law. However, how the law is administered is not the responsibility of government.

Of course there are some groups now being given extra recognition and consequential protection. Just not all the groups which are frequently targeted here. Especially immigrants.

Immigrants, as a whole, are not responsible for any explosion of street crime.

There is nothing fanciful in telling the truth and calling out misinformation.

You need to understand the difference between the styling of a sports kit and the national flag.
The former can be subject to as much artistic imagination as one cares to inflict on it, but the latter is either the national flag or it is not.

It cannot be that difficult to understand surely.

The reaction could have something to do with the fact that the country seems to be being undermined from all directions right now.

That might make even the least nation proud individual a little sensitive.

Again, have you actually been looking at the various Olympic kits for the last 20 odd years? Again, 2012.

You’re absolutely right though. Both instances being discussed in this thread are styling on a sports kit, both instances are using artistic imagination, and both instances are very much not the Union Jack or the St George’s flag.

As you say, it is either the national flag or it is not. In both instances, it is not.

It ceases to be so the moment it deviates from the accepted pure form of it.

They’re abstract interpretations deliberately referencing the actual flags to create something marketable, distinctive, with visual links to the national flag without being the national flag, and designed to be relatively unique (compared to previous kits). No one is going to buy this years kit if it that looks the same as the last one. See football kits. Do I think it’s cynical marketing to make as much money as possible by creating a design system that can be applied to pretty much everything saleable from plush toys to pencil sharpeners? Sure. Is it wokeism? No.

The fashion world has been merging with the sports world for years - leading to more and more ‘designer’ approaches that increasingly discard the norms in search of distinctiveness and marketability. These are both excellent examples. Again you could argue 2012 accelerated this trend.

The actual flag will be present on the team GB kits, as a patch on the arm.

In the case of the ingerlund kits - the three lions, the actual official English crest of the national team, will also be present. The abstract postage stamp on the back references the flag as a piece of styling on a sports kit, but is not the flag.

As I said, ideological storm in a teacup.

If The Olympic team have a Union Jack on their kit, then everyone will be happy (Almost everyone).
If they have some awful rainbow coloured nonsense instead, then people have a right to moan.

The actual design of the kit in terms of colours and shapes is not in question. That is just a matter of taste.

I think we can call that agreement.

It's a quote from Police Scotland whose pledge is to investigate every report. Not some. All.
Once again intent is unimportant. What matters is the perception of the complainant.

That cannot be true.

No one could be charged, let alone found guilty, on the say so of someone else.

A trained police office must surely determine whether the perception is justified and the COPFS whether a prosecution is both required and would succeed.

So I think they must assess intent. If not frivolous charges would soon swamp the courts.

OK, so you accept that the law is being used to control the population and not just to protect certain groups.

One group who is not protected by these laws are White people, unless they happen to be in a minority group themselves. That can only be described as discriminatory.

It is a statistical fact that a huge disproportion of street crime and violent crime in general is committed by minorities. There is a direct relationship between the rise in immigration and crime. You only have to line up the graphs to see that for yourself. As if you really need to.

I'm off to bed now, so I will bid you good night.

If I can jump in and reassure you. The Olympic team have already stated, in response to this story, that their kit includes the Union Flag in traditional colours, as usual. It’s only some merchandise which has been “designed “ with a different colour scheme, as has often been done in the past.

No, it’s not to “control the population”! Like any law it’s aimed at a restricted number of people and in this case to restrain offensive behaviour.

I won’t go down the “white” rabbit hole again, other that to say that as such a group cannot exist it could not be protected, even if it was considered necessary. Which it isn’t.

Panorama the other night laid to rest the myth of immigration being the cause of crime. I suggest everyone watches it. Most immigrants, those working in the health and care sectors or studying, are much less likely to be involved in crime than the average Brit.

Jesus wept! Who gives a fig what kit they'll be wearing at the Olympics? Its not like there's gunna be a pink and purple union jack flying above the athletes heads when they're on the podium, or being carried around the stadium during the opening and closing ceremonies. Now that would boil my blood, flare my nostrils, paint my cheeks with betroot or however else you want to put it. But a bit of kit? leave it out mate.

Of course they must determine the validity of the claim, that's the investigation pledged. They're not arresting everyone on the basis of a complaint but since there were 3,800 complaints in the first 24 hours they have a lot of work to do.

this whole bu1ls.h..t argument is that ''some people may find the Union Flag offensive''

nonsense.....probably the most controversial place to fly the Union Flag is Catholic West Belfast.......but i reckon there are two types of Republicans there

a) SF ira nutters....now globalist sell-outs...booing the Union Flag

b) Nationalists with enough of a brain to see that after the Union Jack gets banned, then their flag will be next for the chop.

England for the English, Wales for the welsh.....protect all national flags.

other flags....non national flags, flags for sexual orientation, divisive religious groups or race hate flags.....can go into the bin.

It will be interesting to see how many of them result in charges and what the daily level is in 6 months time. What’s your guess? Mine is 2 and 10.

They cannot investigate 3,800, let alone that many a day. So I bet they will be logged, any name coming up several times from different people who have no obvious connections to each other will be investigated. Those likely to receive malicious complaints will be carefully examined and excluded if the claims appear fraudulent.

We’ll see!

The first day's total was considerably boosted by complaints about Humza Yousaf and a speech he made a while ago.
You'd imagine the numbers will fall after the initial flurry but the Old Firm game at the weekend will probably push them up again.
