I’ve been to many away games on crappy days and Wilf has almost every time been the best player on the pitch. He got us promoted, kept us up many times and has earned the right to be called a legend. Comparing him to Eze at this stage of his career, and saying Eze is as good or as impactful - how can you possibly know that? I’ll tell you in ten years time.

Yes.

Two different players in my eyes and two very different time spans.

As I mentioned in a previous post, comparing the two will only be to Eze's detriment, at this stage certainly. The reason being that Wilf did carry us for a long time (I'd suggest) and we are now once again looking for a saviour so we don't get relegated, which may well not happen in any instance. I'd also suggest the expectation on Eze should not be to carry us, but produce the moments of magic to make the difference - 'the cherry on the cake'.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

We were the biggest spenders in January window, so thats just not correct.
This season has been blighted by injuries to key players, there is no disguising it.

That may be correct, however it’s not what you spend, it’s more how smart you have been in spending the money and the answer to that is not very smart!

Premier league statistics (Palace only)
Zaha 354m a goal, 572m per assist.
Eze 348m a goal, 562m per assist,

So as usual not doing your research before sprouting rubbish.

Both were and are very good players, and a would think Eze will go on to have a far better record than Zaha.

Well , No-one can argue with that , the stats dont lie . to be honest i would prefer an enthusiastic Eze in my side than a sulky Wilf . Lets face it without his goals and assist and work effort we would be in deep doo doo this season .

Well said.

Results aren't there yet, but performances are miles up on where they were under Hodgson.

Glasner has come in, immediately found a system which gets more out of our squad and already shown more willingness to integrate some of the young players into the squad.

Even yesterday, the solution of playing Lerma at CB is not something Roy would have done in a million years, and it worked very well for the most part.

I'm very excited for next season under Glasner if we can get the recruitment right - some of our patterns of play yesterday were better than anything I saw under Roy.

We need to get the squad a hell of a lot fitter, and add some depth throughout, but I think this 'free hit' spell at the back end of this season is going to be really valuable in terms of Glasner getting a feel for the team and vice versa.

Totally agree. Hope it is a free hit! Our fitness levels under Roy were totally unacceptable and I am sure his training regime contributed to our injuries. having a dig at Glasner at this stage is ridiculous. This is is his first 10 games at Frankfurt who he then guided to Europa Cup.

It’s obviously very relevant Wilf played 3x as many games. Ratios are important but so is outright volume.

Of his 21 PL goals, Eze has scored against:

- Sheff Utd x4
- Southampton x3
- Leeds x3
- Wolves x3
- Bournemouth x3
- Brentford x2
- Everton x1
- West Ham x1
- Spurs x1

So other than the recent free kick against Spurs, I don’t think he’s ever scored against a top half side, nor against Brighton or other such important fixtures. He tends to excel against poor sides and go missing against decent ones, which was never true of Wilf.

Could you not say that about the team as a whole?

Well, he loves a 1-1 draw.

I can only assume you mean Henderson, given the winter buys were Wharton and Munoz. However, if you do, I think the current injury to Johnston is disproving even that...

...Actually, I won't assume, I will ask. Obvs we don't have the resources to have 25 top prem players like the top 6 clubs.
Thus, where do you think the poor decision making has been in the transfer market?

What's the weather in PalaceLand today?

From 3000 miles away, the Forum suggests that many are living in a continuation of yesterday's dismal conditions at Kings Park. Yes, Ebs was off his game, but he did a fine job of finishing Ayew's useful cross – if only JPP hadn't been a shoelace or so offside. And without Guehi, Doucoure and now Richards, our central defense will be hard pressed to stop any Premier League club.

Count our blessings that Henderson showed some promise, Andersen returned to form, our set piece play has improved, and Wharton & Munoz have notably elevated Palace's play from box to box.

You dont think Munoz and Wharton were good signings in the January window. I would suggest that isnt a popular view.
