Mateta is outstanding at holding the ball up, shielding, and laying it off, Kane (at the moment) couldn't hold up a balloon, without falling over.

The way he's playing atm, he'll be in the back 3, he was trying his hardest against the Swiss.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

There's surely a context to be added beyond JP vs Kane? JP end of last season for us - Outstanding. Kane for England this tournament - Uninspired... at best. Doesn't tell much of a story. As things stand, I think JP is my favourite Palace player currently, though just about everybody else has put in an equal case.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I'd be very confident which way it will end up - the goalscoring run Mateta went on for 10 games last season is effectively what Kane has been doing for 10 years.

I fear Bayern Munich may well be asking the same question. Olise will have between now and the end of the Olympic Games (or the French men's team participation) to try to turn his head towards a better life. He had threee years in Germany, so he must speak the lingo a bit. Two years to go on his contract, we need to extend it. Although Tony Kroos has just said he wouldn't go back to Germany now. Unsafe.

Don't think he will be at Palace, But Richards, Andersen, Riad is a fine back 3, IMO Richards is the best defender at the Club. Wow!
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

You're obviously right to mention the Guehi situation, but crikey, there really is "no rest for the wicked". Within the space of six months we go from worrying about relegation, to euphoria over our team and results, to discussing how many of our side we're going to lose. I'm not sure I don't prefer the annual scramble to stay up and the mighty sigh of relief when we do - at least it was predictable.

If we are comparing two players on today's form, it is not amazing at all. If you are comparing careers to date then Kane wins by a country mile. Maybe if Mateta can consistently do it for the next few years instead of just a few months he might come close to being fit to lace kanes boots. Much as I hate Kane when he scores against us and he’s looking jaded for England at the moment and much as I enjoyed Mateta’s little run of form, there’s some that need to give their head a serious wobble on here comparing the two

The best paid managers in the World would say Kane every time and twice on Sunday so Im probably wrong . Kane just bores me to death ,slow , can't go past anyone and has no 'flair' whatsoever .Trap shoot , trap ,shoot , trap shoot and thats it .Also gets in the way of the midfield when he drops back , trap, pass ,trap, pass .its just mind numbing boring rubbish football At least JPM for all his faults give it a go ,will try the unexpected and occasionally gets bums off seats running behind the defence So its JPM ,with a bit of Kanes eye for goal

Luck maybe?
