Now i know Selhurst isn't the best of grounds and the Holmesdale was basically a slope

As you will see from the photos posted, the Arthur and the Whitehorse were also mainly grass banks.Like a good few on here,I remember the "fun" of going a*se over t*t on the rain drenched slope that the Arthur now occupies.

Somewhere, in an old 60's Year Book, there's a picture of SP when it was a brickyard, before the ground was built. Apparently Arsenal looked at the site before deciding on Highbury in 1913, so we might all have been gooners.

The original Selhurst Park was actually a park, but not where the ground is situated. It was the bit of ground between Holmesdale Road and Selhurst Road, where Burgoyne Road and Oliver Grove now are.

The crowd is outstanding, and especially with the penalty after 44 minutes it was clear when we came out after half-time the welcome would be pretty loud and not too friendly. Crystal Palace wanted to strike back, so that was all clear. This is a wonderful place to play football - Jurgen Klopp

Fell down that slope a few times,as we used to change ends at half time.At the very top of the Whitehorse end we could have a kick about during the interval.

Was it you who always had to get the ball out of the brambles??

Does anyone have any photos of "The Last Stand", the last game before the old Holmesdale Terrace was turned into the stand it now is.

I was at the match, had a ticket with my name printed on it and got a photo from the Addy special edition at the time. I've since lost both.

It would be great to see the photo again.

I always wished I'd taken a camera to that game. I remember walking on the pitch at the end to take a last look at it.
A sad day really.
