I'm probably going to get crucified for this. Probably would have gotten longer here had he not pleaded guilty. I don't think it'll do his career much good, but I don't think additionally punishing someone is always advisable if they've put their hands up, plead guilty etc. Everyone deserves a second chance, and sometimes its difficult to know what you'd do in a situation until your in it. Drunk or not.

If your acting in self defence and instinctively, someone you'll lash out with the closest thing at hand. But then I'm no fighter, and when its all kicked off, my instinct generally has been to grab whatever is near as a weapon.

Look at Troy Deeney, a great example of someone who has sorted himself out and a great ambassador for his club.

Bottling someone isn't self defence, unless they've got an object to attack or threaten you with. You'd be better off without it or using something that can actually defend you, like a chair. Even a jacket would be better for defending yourself.

That's a lot of people you don't want to give an opportunity to make up for what they've done in the past. We aren't talking about a serial offender here.

You don't write someone off because you've invested half a million quid and a couple of years of wages/training? Would most people keep their jobs after getting sent down for 10 months for a violent assault? I'm all for them being able to apply again and prove themselves, but not to come out and go straight back to their, very comfortable, life and reserved job. Having a criminal record and violently attacking someone aren't one and the same.

Wasnt self defence, lost his temper and despite people around him trying to calm the siruation he wouldnt let it go and carried on, caused a quite a bit of trouble that night. Deserved what he got and hope he learns his lesson.

Not self defence. Would not have received a 14 week custodial sentence. Has just overturned the sentence on appeal. Now suspended for 18 months. He is a very lucky boy and needs to appreciate that. The club say he is on a last chance. His appearance and associated conduct is all Vinnie Jones. He needs to base himself on a better role model. If he thinks a career in Hollywood beckons he is seriously misguided. Time to grow up Ryan.
