Why are so many posts accompanied by these random numbers and symbols? Is it some sort of code? Am I being simple? Explanation please.

Well, I think the title may be some sort of clue. Originally I posted the title WTF is 😂but when I put the thread up , the numbers changed into that face thing. What's going on? What does that face mean anyway? Old geezer alert.

most of us use our phones rather than home pcs these days, when we use the emojies on the phone buttons/short cuts, they do not work on the Holmesdale. One had to click on the smiley code or manually put it in. but clicking on a yellow looking ready made emoji like you see in fb messenger or whatsapp, simply doesn't work often, if ever.
ok, im boring myself to death now.
