This one is a can of worms and a few people/fans are still being a little deluded as Big Sam not FS has mostly done footballs dirty jobs and done them very well thats why he got the England job because like it or not England for all our wonderfully hyped players have never achieved . Well now we the great Palace need and are very thankful for his services and we will stay up and just maybe for once in his career he may just have a team with more quality to play with and with a good bit of money to buy a few Sam type players may just shape a team that might just get somewhere but then again this is Palace and as a club for the last 45 years it has mostly F***ed my brains and ruined my weekends but for the few moments of pleasure a bit like a Puta have not made up for the pain. So for as long as possible lets just give the guy the respect he deserves. Long live Big Sam at least until he F***s up. Long live Big Sam and red wine.

So, yep there's a thread about how he hasn't put a foot wrong and the pro Sam - from the start brigade - are feeling totally justified in our unconditional backing from the start ... BUT, assuming (and praying) he keeps us up ... what are the chances of him actually wanting to stay with us next season?!

Pulis did the dirty and let's face it Sam would probably have his head turned quite easily if a big club came knocking ... which concerns me. If he did go, you couldn't knock him to much as he was brought in primarily to keep us up, which he hopefully will. But do we have enough as a club to keep him?! I sincerely hope so ...

Thoughts?

Why start a totally pointless thread, havent we got more things to worry about!!

The OP used Pulis as an example. He needed a lot of persuasion to come to us and always used the word "they" when talking about the club and team in interviews. SA seems to enjoy our roller coaster, enjoys Glad All Over and seems a 'Big' fan of the club in general. He didn't need persuading, so let's let him do his job that he's doing well and I don't think now he f***ed up with England that he's going anywhere...

This is the correct answer.

None of the so called big clubs will come in for him because he's not fashionable enough and his reputation as being a relegation specialist isn't one any of them want to be associated with. Add in his recent naughtiness with the FA and it's fair to say it's in Sam's interest to stay and rebuild his reputation. I really don't see him going anywhere just yet.

Cynic or realist? It's a fine line!

I think he might just surprise a few people.

I recall an interview in which he spoke about his managerial career & was interested in what he said about Bolton. He enjoyed the challenge of making the underdog successful & had real ambitions to win something. It was only when the board told him they didn't have the same aspirations & would not be financing a 'step up' that he chose to leave.

you could argue we are much the same as Bolton were back then & that may be enough for Sam to stay & try to realise his dream.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

In case it escaped your notice fella, this is a forum largely based on pointless threads, unsubstantiated arguements, conjecture & speculation!

Are you on Spice or something? Leeds would need to get up, stay up and consistently finish above us for 3/4 years, buy back their training ground, their ground, pay off their massive debts AND fill Elland road week in, week out to be considered bigger than Palace in this day and age.
News flash: Billy Bremner is dead, the 'your not famous any more' chant is not just sarcasm

Spice

So Leeds aren't a big club?! Yeah right-e-o! They'd fill their ground week on week out in the prem and all their away allocations. They're a much bigger club than us. They get a bit of investment, stay up then a club like that becomes very attractive to the old school managers like Big Sam! Whether it happens - who knows - but 6 months is a long time in modern footballing terms!

Agreed with this.

He's not going to get a 'big' club or the England job again, so if the board are willing to back him and try to win some cups or get into Europe then I can see him staying.

We're not going to win the league, but we had an FA Cup final last year, and I see no reason why, provided we haven't completely screwed up in the league and are still in the division, we shouldn't make a real effort in both cup competitions every year.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

A bit harsh yes AE and I agree we would be in a great deal of trouble without him. I guess I just dislike dishonest people but that aside he is doing the business for us.
