Link is to an artical that's suggests Sam's thinking about making some huge changes for the Spurs game as key players might not have enough recovery time.

Assume if he does then this is to make sure we can compete against Spurs but also Burnley.

Don't think many would have thought he'd have taken this option but in Sam we trust.

So I guess the discussion is, what changes might he make?

Maybe he'll rest Tomkins and Kelly and play Sakho and Dann

Is Dann even fit at the moment?

Could he rest Townsend and give Chung a game. Then rest Wilf for second half and bring Townsend on?

Benteke I imagine has to start?

Could McArthur come in for Cayabe?

We don't have many choices at centre-forward but if we want to close the game out we can use Campbell. If we need to score goals and Benteke isn't available then we're reduced to pushing Wilf up there or else bringing on an academy player.

Or Tomkins

(Pity Tomkins didn't score from that centre-forward position in injury time at Anfield. I would have laughed my arse off.)

we're more likely to take 3 points off Burnley than we are Spurs, therefore he's targeting this game with our strongest side.
Having said that the way we are playing at the moment who knows what could happen.

My guess would be PVA for Schlupp,
Mac and Flam for Luka and Cabaye, Campbell for Benteke,
Sako and Damo at the back
Lee and Sahko for Zaha and AT (they ran themselves into the ground)
Right back, no idea, it seems we only have one specialist RB.

I think Sam's deprioritising this match.

I don't disagree, but...

Is Sam inviting a fine from the League for fielding this side (and hurting Chelsea)?

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

I wouldn't say he's deprioritising it. But more that he understands that if he sends guys out, that haven't recovered then we won't have any chance, even if they'd normally make the first team. We saw against Southampton the possible result.

Big win and then not at the races.

I think he knows that to give us a fighting chance against Spurs then fresh legs may be needed.

Yeah, I think he's wise to consider resting players here and there. There are a lot of high pressure games and although we absolutely want to keep the momentum going with a result against Spurs, we need to think about preparing the best team for Burnley.

It's likely we will see McArthur and PVA come in next match but other than that I would be surprised to see much rotation in the starting 11. Instead I would expect key players to be substituted, like Zaha was on Sunday.

I thought Dann was out long term with the injury he picked up at Chelsea! Tomkins got a whack at Liverpool so I doubt we'll see him but PVA Damo McArthur Flamini Sako Chungy Campbell and Sakho could come in from Sunday and dare I hope for Jules in goal?

He has not really said this but after what happened at Southampton he has recognised that the players need recovery time when playing with such intensity. Spurs will have a day longer and no travelling, so targeting the more winnable game against Burnley makes perfect sense. I think your team is spot on. All the outfield players will change, with the bench made up of first choice impact players if we need a goal or to protect something. I suspect Fryers will play at right back. Who knows what Sam's discipline will have done for the squad players. They may well surprise us and will certainly be fitter and out to prove a point. With Sahko organising at the back anything is possible, but being ready for Burnley is the real target.
