Didn't you get it? Let me break it down for you Rudi - great name by the way.

Not so long ago there was a team doing quite well in the top league but then they got ahead of themselves thinking they should go to the next level. That didn't work out too well for them.

Is that simple enough for you?

Oh I got it. But it's not the same, is it?

Charlton we're doing quite well. We are not.

They were looking to go to the next level they don't belong in. We just want to have enough players in crucial positions, not leave transfers too late, not take liberties with the manager, not chuck a portion of the season away, things like that.

Oh and as you mention going to the next level, what was the Pardew expansive football project or the Frank De Bulksh1t the interview all about then? I suppose that's excused?

It's not the next level we should be at. It's an acceptable level of resources to a manager, heeding his warnings, and another established and respected (is he) leaving.

Simple enough for you?

As a matter of interest one could always show the opposite side of the coin by telling a similar story about Manchester City

You're not seriously comparing Charlton and man city....

Rudi you keep repeating the same posts daily on different threads.
As a matter of interest if we had 3 goalies and 3 strikers, where in the Premier League (position)would we be in your world.?

Alan, you keep saying very little, bringing absolutely nothing to the discussions.

If we had the resources necessary to a manager we would probably be clear of relegation, not thinking 'oh fvck, we've come out of 2 or 3 winnable games with 2 points and now have 4 of the top 6 to play in a row that will leave us in the relegation zone.'

I'll remind you again. We chuck 3-4 games every season at least. This season it was 7. You work it out. So there's not only those but also games when there's no striker or left back or whatever.

Btw, it's not my world, it's the real world that happens on a football pitch. Reading that 'your world' is probably why the same thing gets repeated. We then get examples of Charlton, Parish risking his money, us not having the money in the first place and other reasons that do not exist. What does exist is what you need to not put yourselves in danger unnecessarily, because it is every year, unnecessary.

Rudi,I might be saying very little because the sensible posters cannot get a word in.
Anyhow back to my question, what position would we be in ?
1-20.?

Rubbish because there's been a load of posters posting the same excuses that I've just listed.

I'll repeat again for you. There's no excuses for starting the season with 1 striker and 2 keepers, then going through the next window with 2 keepers. Nobody else does it. Nobody.

Did you see Sunderland finally get relegated once Defoe was injured? (Yes they had cover but not good enough)

What position? It's not about the position we finish in or are in now. It's about how many results you're clear of danger and how many matches you go into with a competitive team. We do that more than we've planned for and we're fine.

If we had an extra goalie we could well be in exactly the same position as even the best make mistakes but if we had bought another half decent striker back in August we should be a few goals to the better and therefore a bit higher up the table.

Of course our brand new striker could have broken his leg in the first game he played but on the balance of probabilities he should have improved our side

That is key so are people who are questioning parish doing so on ability or £££?

If it's the latter then clearly no he is not. he is not nearly wealthy enough.

If it is the former, then I think he is, I believe he is learning his lesson when he makes mistakes. We finally seem to have an infrastructure for scouting and recruitment that has been sadly lacking for a few years. Not helped by the McKay fiasco. Unfortunately the results will probably take a few windows to be realised.

Absolutely correct Rudi. mismanagement of last two windows is indefensible even for the Parish apologists.

OK I’m not going to get a position from you fair enough.
I think Sunderland’s problems are to do with overspending for many years, more than a replacement for Defoe.
PS here’s a question for you Who is the longest serving professional player at Chelsea?
If you don’t get it Willo will.
I’m off now to take the MIL out.
Have a good day Posting Rudi.
Take Care.

Sunderland underinvested for many years.

It's not about the position being predicted. You have a striker available at all times and you get more points. You don't chuck 3/4-7 games away and you get more points and safety. It's like focusing in a job early in your career with good experience. The money will come. Or in a meritocracy like sales or similar. Focus on the work and the sales and wages follow.

Chelsea? Who cares? John Terry? Now? Couldn't care less.

Thats all well and good by its the premier league, no time for everyone to get comfy with their feet under the table. No such patience is given to premier league managers, well apart from super Al so why should we expect results from the 'best recruitment environment we've had'. Seriously every team is mainly looking at the same players anyway for goodness sake. Just excuses.
